Windmill Players Clanfield

Windmill Players Clanfield Each year we put on a variety concert and a pantomime.

The Windmill Players was established in the Hampshire village of Clanfield in 1981, just before the opening of the Memorial Hall in South Lane, which has been our home ever since. Over the last few years we have been pleased to make donations to The Rowans Hospice from the proceeds of our annual variety concert and pantomime. We have also been able to buy a new piano for use in the Memorial Hall and re-roof the building where we store our props.

That's our Rowans show over for this year, and despite the fact that we had a small (but perfectly-formed) audience this year their generosity was a wondrous thing and we are so very grateful to them for coming along to support us and for helping to raise funds for Rowans.

Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved with the show especially the kind people who come each year to work FoH, backstage and in the kitchen; also the techie wizard who trouble shoots when things don't go according to plan! Thank you also, to all the talented friends who come to perform and entertain our audiences.

We're extremely lucky to have such lovely people in our lives, who unselfishly give up their time to support us and help to raise money for The Rowans.

Thank you all so very much

Show day has dawned! Extremely early here due to the curtains being open to allow a modicum of air to attempt to circulate!

Dress rehearsal was yesterday evening, FoH have been briefed, and cakes have been sampled & approved πŸ™‚.

All that's needed now is our audience to come along and be entertained. 8:00 pm tonight at The Memorial Hall, Clanfield.

Spoke too soon re going up into the loft! Had to locate a couple of pieces of costume; I thought I knew where they were but was sadly mistaken. Mind you, I think I can be forgiven for this since The Great Squirrel Incident when some costume boxes had to be moved around in order to find where said squirrel was entering! We'd heard some 'skittering' noises for a short while, but didn't really want to believe our ears, it was only when a passer-by walking her dog told me that she'd watched squirrel running along the guttering and disappearing beneath a roof tile that we bowed to the inevitable and knew we had to investigate further. I asked if we could send her dog up there but she said the dog couldn't chase away the squirrel because it was too stupid! The dog not the squirrel. Happily, all sorted out now, no further entry points for livestock as all securely sealed up.Also, NO LIVESTOCK WAS HARMED DURING THE EVICTION PROCESS!

I've always been under the impression that hell is down below us, in the deepest darkest part of Earth, but no it is not, it is presently up in our loft!πŸ₯΅πŸ‘ΉπŸΏ

Costume bits safely, but very warmly located and are now cooling off in the children's bedroom along with lots of other items destined to be used in Saturday's Rowans Concert. Please do come along and help us to raise money for this wonderful charity, we can promise you lots of songs, sketches and silliness...oh and cake too 🧁🍰

8:00 pm at The Memorial Hall, Clanfield this Saturday, 18th July

Happily no further excursions into the loft - for now anyway!πŸ₯΅

Advance sales for tickets are progressing nicely, but it's always heartening to sell more so that Rowans can be supported by us and by you, our audiences.

We would love to see you at 8:00pm on Saturday 18th July for a fun evening's entertainment. As the inimitable Del-Boy says, "Go on, you know it makes sense"

Crikey, had to spend some time in the loft this morning, locating various items for use in our upcoming Rowans show and oh my word, it was extremely toasty warm up there! Talk about sweat and hotty! πŸ₯΅

Happily, all items were found so they're now safely in the children's bedroom cooling off ( as are we - cooling off, I mean!)

We're very much looking forward to seeing you on Saturday 18th July so that you can help us raise funds for this wonderful charity. As usual, lots of sketches, songs and silliness also cake and of course, jam tarts πŸ˜‰ IYKYK

What a tidying-up week! All the costume washing, ironing, & airing has been done; and it's all now been put away in the relevant boxes in the loft today πŸ˜€ Home is looking more like home now, though there's still some protective coating to be removed from lots of surfaces! The garage is another story however, there's still some clearing up to do but the backdrop curtains are folded and stored in their chest of drawers so it's just the painted backcloths to be folded and put in their proper place; props to be put up in the roof space and other items to be stowed away.

Thank you again to everyone who supported our panto, we're so grateful to have such kind friends in our lives

Our 24th panto is now over! A very big thank you to everyone who supported us whether technical wizards, superb stage managership, front of house, the hard-working kitchen ladies, our cast and of course, our Director without whom these pantos would not exist! Thank you to our audiences, we hope you had as much fun watching (& participating) as we did performing for you all πŸ™‚. Just wondering how many of you spotted the green tractor and trailer!

The road advertising boards have been collected in today, some of the costume-washing has been done but there's still quite a lot to be put away in its proper place. All part of the fun though 😁

Thank you and we shall be performing our beloved Rowans charity show on 18th July in the Clanfield Memorial Hall, so do please come along and help us to raise funds for this wonderful hospice.
