Windmill Players Clanfield

Windmill Players Clanfield Each year we put on a variety concert and a pantomime.

The Windmill Players was established in the Hampshire village of Clanfield in 1981, just before the opening of the Memorial Hall in South Lane, which has been our home ever since. Over the last few years we have been pleased to make donations to The Rowans Hospice from the proceeds of our annual variety concert and pantomime. We have also been able to buy a new piano for use in the Memorial Hall and re-roof the building where we store our props.

What a tidying-up week! All the costume washing, ironing, & airing has been done; and it's all now been put away in the relevant boxes in the loft today 😀 Home is looking more like home now, though there's still some protective coating to be removed from lots of surfaces! The garage is another story however, there's still some clearing up to do but the backdrop curtains are folded and stored in their chest of drawers so it's just the painted backcloths to be folded and put in their proper place; props to be put up in the roof space and other items to be stowed away.

Our 24th panto is now over! A very big thank you to everyone who supported us whether technical wizards, superb stage managership, front of house, the hard-working kitchen ladies, our cast and of course, our Director without whom these pantos would not exist! Thank you to our audiences, we hope you had as much fun watching (& participating) as we did performing for you all 🙂. Just wondering how many of you spotted the green tractor and trailer!

The road advertising boards have been collected in today, some of the costume-washing has been done but there's still quite a lot to be put away in its proper place. All part of the fun though 😁

Thank you and we shall be performing our beloved Rowans charity show on 18th July in the Clanfield Memorial Hall, so do please come along and help us to raise funds for this wonderful hospice.

It's opening night for our panto Sleeping Beauty! Oh yes it is 😃 Do come along and enjoy some silliness, and a lot of laughter - just the ticket to brighten up this soggy, grey and chilly January. We can promise you some very loud laughter too, and don't forget to watch out for the green tractor & trailer!

Opening night for our Panto Sleeping Beauty is this Friday! Eeeek! Advance tickets are selling well, particularly the matinee 😀 Everyone has their costumes and hopefully all the beastly coughs, colds etc have finally been shaken off! 🤞🤞We look forward to welcoming you so do come along and have lots of laughs and chase away those January blues!
The income from these pantos fund our annual Rowans charity show, we've supported them for many years and are quietly proud of how much we've raised over the years, thanks to our audiences & their generosity 🥰

Panto time is very close now! Advance ticket bookings are looking healthy, members of the cast are now shrugging off the various flu, colds and coughs so everyone will be in fine fettle to perform and entertain our audiences 😃

The advertising road boards are now out, and notice board posters also are out so keep your eyes peeled for them 😶 as they are rather eye-catching! Rehearsals are on-going, with line-learning being the order of the day! We're managing to fit in some extra ones too - always helpful 😀

We do look forward to welcoming you to our annual extravaganza (or grand entertainment) oooh, that's one of my lines😆😆😆

Well hoorah and huzzah - we've taken our first advance bookings for our Sleeping Beauty Panto next January. They do make good Christmas presents, for ages 4 to 84 (and beyond!) Please come along and join in with the fun and general silliness - we promise you'll go home with smiles on your faces - "oh yes you will"

As our Regulars know, the Panto income funds our annual Rowans show in the summer, we've supported them for many years now and are always honoured to do so.

The pantomime is now fully cast! Hoorah & huzzah! There have been a worrying few weeks when we were seriously considering whether or not the 2026 panto could actually go ahead, but thanks to some amazing networking from several people ( you know who you are JD!) we shall go to the ball - ooh no, sorry wrong panto - we're delighted to say that Sleeping Beauty will be performed in our usual Clanfield Memorial Hall on 16th & 17th January 2026.

Rehearsals are well under way, a poster will be added to this page very soon. We do look forward to entertaining you

Scripts have been copied, bound and distributed, this means that rehearsals for Sleeping Beauty have just begun. This Panto in the long-running series written by Peter is the twenty fourth one! Ideas for posters are being bandied about, together with colour schemes for said posters. Costume ideas are gently simmering too 😉, there are even some (very rough) sketches! I might even have to source more fabric - my guilty pleasure 😁
