Just for the record, my record mostly, layer 5 is on. It starts to get exciting now, detail is coming through and I’m getting an idea of where it’s going. Thinking I’m going to bring in a second blank plate to work on that sky a bit more 🤔

Will it be finished for ? I hope so…

Reduction linocut layer 4. Well, I thought it was layer 3 and that is why I do these posts because it wasn’t. I would have forgotten a whole days printing 🤦‍♀️

The ponies are starting to appear, which I love. My working title for this is ‘Room With A View’. They might have to cope with all weathers up there on the Quantock Hills but on a still moonlit night I reckon they have the very best of views.

This was meant to be a double experiment with linocut and different bubble mixtures. I ended up taking the bottom pice of foil off to tape it down and ink it and it worked out well. So much so that I printed a few of them.

The top piece of foil, just washing up liquid and water, worked but not very well at all, only tiny areas of bubbles were viable and I forgot to video it 🤦‍♀️ More experiments need with that 🤔

And now it’s a linocut day, to the studio!

Here’s a blast from the past for you. My multi block linocut print, Hayrolls and Hills. I was looking for an extra print to add to the wall East Quay Print Studio and this one felt just right and very in keeping for Lughnasadh.

A new exhibition with work from Sue Lowe and Maddie Rock opens at the print studio today, and is open every weekend through August. It is well worth a visit if you find yourself in Watchet. Based on our glorious trees, the exhibition is a celebration of collagraph printmaking.
