We are really excited to be working with the brilliant Daniel & Clara in preparation for their exhibition, 'Dreamers in the Landscape', coming to East Quay early next year! 📢

The exhibition will feature a new series of large photographs of figures sleeping in the Somerset countryside, out of which will grow surreal sculptural forms that evoke moss, brambles, fungi and lichen. Taken during visits to sites associated with Coleridge and Wordsworth, from the Quantock Hills to Exmoor, the work will explore entanglements between natural processes and the imagination. 🌱

Daniel & Clara will present a world under enchantment, where a shift in the balance between human and nature has taken place – inviting viewers to enter a dream space where the boundaries between the worlds within us and around us dissolve. ✨️

Alongside the exhibition, Daniel & Clara will be creating a participatory mail art series exploring the lives of nocturnal creatures that shape the landscapes around us while we are sleeping. 🦫

ℹ️ About the artists:
Daniel & Clara are an artist duo who have been working together since 2010, and their practice spans moving image, photography, installation and mail art.

Their work grows from encounters with sites in the British landscape that are rich in personal or cultural resonance. They consider the relationship between humans and the natural world through the lens of dreams, mythology, psychology and art history. Their recent projects have focused on exploring the environmental crisis as a psychological crisis.

🗓️ 'Dreamers in the Landscape' will be on display in Gallery 1 at East Quay. from Saturday 13 February - Sunday 6 June 2027.

Have you seen the fantastic 'Stained Glass Panel of Watchet', on display in the Watchet Visitor Centre? 🤩

Beautifully crafted by Thresher Stained Glass, the piece celebrates the town's rich heritage and shines a spotlight on some familiar favourites... from the Watchet lighthouse and Ancient Mariner statue, to the steam train and an epic ammonite. 🚂

Plus, we also spotted East Quay sneaking into view! 🌊

There are also postcards, notepads and greetings cards featuring the design, which you can pick up as a memento. 👀

We absolutely love it. 👏

Each one of us can make a positive difference and this impacts directly on the richness of community in West Somerset.

The Learning Team loved working with local Shepherd and weaver, Bec Briar, at Studio 10! We’ve really enjoyed learning more about her creative process and discovering the wonderful world of British wool.

Our Home Education Creators explored weaving on homemade heddle looms, while at Drink and Draw we painted watercolour landscapes and incorporated paper and wool weaving to add texture and depth to our artwork.

Our after-school clubs got creative with cardboard loom weaving and made adorable wool pom-pom animals. During a visit from Knights Templar School, Years 1 and 2 enjoyed making woolly yarn-wrapped sheep and experimenting with weaving using mark-made papers and ribbons.

Over the holidays, visitors also had fun creating their own little woven sheep.

If you missed Bec’s visit, she is local and runs a variety of fantastic adult workshops. Be sure to check out her website at www.thewovenbriar.co.uk

For more information about our regular children’s and adults’ clubs, as well as school visits, please visit our website.

Come to Music Club this Wednesday, 10th of June at 7pm in the Creator Space! 🎵

East Quay’s monthly Music Club offers a relaxed, welcoming space to explore sound and movement, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced musician. ✨

This week will be a lab session, which is a guided workshop focusing on a specific theme. This time, we'll look at performance skills and what it’s like to be on stage. It’s a great, low-pressure chance to practice using a microphone, connecting with an audience, and managing those inevitable performance nerves in a supportive space so you can gain confidence step by step. 🎤

Led by multi-instrumentalist and composer Sebastian Tesouro, Music Club is open to anyone aged 18 and over. No prior experience is required at all — just bring your curiosity, your ideas, and a love of music. 🎹

Music Club is completely free to attend, but we do ask that you please book a ticket in advance so we can manage numbers. 🎟️

Hope to see you there! 🙌
