The Slaughterhouse Players The Slaughterhouse Players present original humorous, light-hearted and, on occasion, risque plays based on Warwick historical events.

Formed by CJ Wilsmore, the ubiquitous Warwick comedy drama ensemble originated in 2003. Fuelled by Slaughterhouse Brewery's finest Saddleback ale, CJ was coerced into producing a play based on the life of Guy of Warwick, whom he had been researching. The 'premiere' of The Warwick Play was performed in the lounge of the Simple Simon pub. That first cast's enthusiasm, and the laughter of the audienc

e, was sufficient to see the troupe launched as an enthusiastic, if inept, band of performers - though regular watchers of the Players' subsequent works would insist that they have remained as inept. Nonetheless, the show has gone on and enjoyed unbroken years of fun and fundraising. Many players have graced venues such as Guy's Cliffe, The Lord Leycester Hospital, Northgate Street Courthouse, Pageant House Old Court, St Mary's Church, Market Square, The Holloway and most of Warwick's pubs and clubs. Always eager to welcome fresh blood into their ranks - no acting experience (or ability!) is necessary, but a sense of fun and a willingness to enjoy the fruits of Brewers & Vintners is mandatory! Every production is staged, not just for the players own pleasure, but to raise funds for deserving local causes, and the theme is always in order to raise awareness of Warwick's fascinating and bejewelled history.
