We had a wonderful time yesterday exploring our local waterways with some art, poetry and history along the way. This final Wandering the Weir event celebrated the fantastic community artwork now on display at the Market Hall Museum in Warwick with a walk from Leamington along the canal and the river to the museum.

❀️ A big thank you to everyone who came along on the day as well as everyone who has been involved in the project. Wandering the Weir wouldn't have happened without the many community members who gave their time and energy to be part of it.

🦦 Thank you to Warwickshire Museum for their support and for creating this fantastic exhibition we have been able to be a part of.

🌟 Thank you also to Leamington History Group for supporting the event πŸ™‚

Stop by the Market Hall Museum for their Tales from the Riverbank exhibition on until January 2024, and have a look at the Wandering the Weir community artwork on show!

Waterways Walk - Saturday 23rd March 🦦
Book now! Link in bio

Come with us on a walk to the Tales from the Riverbank exhibition at Market Hall Museum!

Along the way:

⚬ Art activities - suitable for adults and families with children aged 7+ (approximately, due to length of walk)

⚬ Oral histories and stories

⚬ Poetry

This 3 mile walk will start at Leamington Spa Railway station and we will make our way along the waterways to Warwick to see the Tales from the Riverbank exhibition at the Market Hall Museum. Join us to hear recorded stories from local communities about the canal, receive a free art box to complete along the way or at home, and visit the fascinating Market Hall Museum in Warwick.

This walk is part of the Wandering the Weir project. Warwickshire Museums has kindly displayed the artwork of local community members created as part of the Wandering the Weir project in their Tales from the Riverbank exhibition.

The walk will be approximately 3 miles (1 hour of active walking) and will include steps, so unfortunately it is not suitable for those using a wheelchair. We will be walking quite slowly with stops along the way, but may be unsuitable for those with limited mobility. Please join us at the Market Hall Museum at 12:30pm if you are unable to come along for the walk (no need to book).

Please book tickets for free on Eventbrite as spaces are limited: https://shorturl.at/zBKUX

This week I said to goodbye to Coventry and moved across the country to begin a new adventure in Norfolk. I want to say a big thank you to all of the incredible people I've been able to work with in Coventry. Here's some last pictures I took at my studio at Eaton House with . It's been sad to say goodbye, but I'm excited for the road ahead 🌱

I'll be back in the Midlands briefly for the opening of Tales from the Riverbed at Market Hall Museum in Warwick at the end of this month

We'll be showing some of the fantastic artwork created for Wandering the Weir by community members at and as part of the exhibition.

Keep Saturday 23rd March in your diaries as I'll be running a free event to mark the occasion!

We had a great turnout at the opening of the Wandering the Weir Exhibition today!

Thank you to everyone who came to the and a special thank you to Nigel Briggs who you can see in this photo reciting his wonderful poem 'Our Canal' written for the Wandering the Weir project.

Watch out next week for features on our soundwalk, Telling the Towpath, which is now partially listen-able on my website (link in bio) as well as on the Echoes app. 'Our Canal' is one of the sound clips featured on Telling the Towpath among loads of other community stories and voices!

This great image is a cyanotype composite print by David Green that was made at one of my workshops 😊

Come along to the to view work by local people in Leamington centred on the canal, its history and its meaning for locals today. These artworks, which use cyanotype and collaging techniques, were all created as part of the Wandering the Weir workshops that took place over the last couple of months.

Stop by on the 8th to see more fantastic work, enjoy tea, cake and a good chat. You'll also be able to listen to Telling the Towpath, a soundwalk artwork made using community voices about the canal. Join me afterwards for a wintery walk along the canal (weather dependent!) 🌞
