Hello everyone,
I'm Rachel Hayward, co-founder of HPA Dance Collective. I bring a wealth of experience to this venture, having enjoyed a successful career as a professional ballet dancer.
Over the years, I've been the driving force behind Hayward Performing Arts (formerly known as Hayward Dance Academy) and have proudly served as an ISTD examiner, specialising in the Cecchetti Branch.
With more than two decades of running my own dance school, I've witnessed our graduates secure coveted spots at esteemed institutions like the Northern Contemporary School of Dance, The Hammond, Guildford School of Acting, Bird College, Elmhurst Ballet School, and the Royal Ballet School, just to name a few. What's even more heart warming is that many of our former students and industry professionals return to our studio for classes, fitness maintenance, and assistance with showreels and other career-related needs.
As a dedicated dance educator, I also feel the need to occasionally step into a professional-level class to maintain my own fitness levels and technique.
The idea for HPA Dance Collective took root after a chance encounter and numerous conversations with my friend and colleague, Jenny Hackwell. Between us, we boast over four decades of experience as professional dancers and have forged valuable connections within the industry.
For our launch on Sunday 22nd October my daughter, Alicia Hayward, who, after graduating from Bird College, embarked on a journey with the Lion King UK tour. Alicia will be teaching an exciting Jazz class and sharing her invaluable knowledge and experiences with you during Q&A sessions.
Our vision for HPA Dance Collective is simple yet profound: to provide unwavering support to dancers and professionals within the industry. Whether it's through classes, expertly crafted showreels and headshots, nutritional guidance, fitness resources, or any other facet, our aim is to assist and empower the next generation as they navigate their unique paths in the dance industry.
