Wiltshireโs oldest working theatre. The Athenaeum has a long and colourful history since it was built in 1857-8. Since 2000 this Grade II listed building has been held in Trust as a centre for the people of Warminster, and managed, manned and staffed entirely by a tireless band of volunteers. The Athenaeum plays host to a diverse range of community groups, classes and activities within it's many rooms. At the heart of the building, the Victorian Auditorium is used by local drama and dance groups, schools and charities, for shows and events, as well as the occasional professional touring company. The ground floor rooms and auditorium are accessible to wheelchair users. On the first floor, the bar and main function room are accessible to wheelchair users by way of the lift. There is currently no wheelchair access to the First Floor Meeting room, the Balcony, Close Centre Rehearsal Rooms or The Studio. We welcome bookings from the community for all parts of the building.
