We are a company of creatives from Wiltshire, working on a play planning to tour in Bath, Liverpool, Barnstable, Bristol, Camden London and Edinburgh summer of 2024. The play is called God, the Devil and me and centers around an average teenage boy who just happens to be best friends with God and the Devil. We aim for this page to be an immersive experience around the themes and characters of the play.

Join the revolution today- with our “the painted revolutionary Spotify playlist. As we did with god, the devil and me, this year tip top has produced a playlist for our show performing”the painted revolutionary,” which is free and accessible on Spotify now- link in bio. The playlist includes songs that have been focal to the creation and development of the show with contributions from writer fionn and our director Miranda. The playlist follows the themes and structure of the show, so if you’re curious about our inspiration, or if you wanna get a feel for the show, or you just wanna enjoy good music and keep it as a memory should you come to see us in Edinburgh, then this playlist has a lot to offer. Catch growing pains Camden People's Theatre 7th-11th July at 7pm!! If you haven’t caught us yet, there’s still time. Synopsis: Tessa is a teacher… or writer… or teacher… Not qualified for much, at 25, Tessa is a failed fringe writer, a sponge for her partner and tasked with inspiring the future with a GCSE class more focused on her demise than their exams. Mid-Twenties angst is real. With no answers, can Tessa, really, teach anyone… anything. The second show for Tip Top Theatre collective, Growing pains, is a comedic look at the struggles of your mid-twenties and the hidden complexities of the public education system. The play follows comprehensive school teacher Tessa, who is a reluctant educator and a rejected visionary. At 25, Tessa believes herself to be a failed writer, is a provider for her partner and a rather surly teacher. All this coalesces for Tessa to be, perhaps, the worst example of “those that can do, those that can’t teach.”  Tessa’s GCSE class sits in a crucial year… mainly for Tessa, but through her class Tessa may come to see that everyone has needs- even teenagers. Can Tessa surprise us all and learn to grow, can she stop being glass half empty and can she find her feet with her students… or will her report card read “could try harder?” Coming up against the bureaucracy of the education system won’t make her life easy though. If you’ve ever felt your life was teetering on a brink, with everyone asking what you’ll do next and kids driving you mad… you’re in the right place. 

Growing pains reflects on the difficulties of growing up and finding your place (whatever your age) and looks at the very human and systemic problems that make universal education so hard to get right. Comedy is often found in the harshest places… and nowhere’s harsher than a GCSE drama classroom dealing with teenagers.  It’s not an easy job being a teacher… you could say it’s painful.

Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of the painted revolutionary… our official flyers and posters are here!! We can’t wait to bring this show to you- synopsis: Painted revolutionary follows struggle as she searches to bring change to her bookshop where she is surrounded by bright ideas, but very rarely engages with the real world. The show brings to life political concepts as very real and very flawed people. We meet our cast of characters in Struggle’s bookshop, where she is dissatisfied and isolated, largely finding solace in the words of her heroes rather than anyone around her. Order is the only person who stops by to check on her, but their motive is more out of restricting struggle than sincere concern. But struggle will discover that she has an audience, something that only occurs in the great pinnacles of history and her quest to bring change to her and the world ensues. Struggle will be up against her ex-partner (in crime) revolution, the dowdy triplets love, passion and hate, class in his split identity and allegiance, order, peace, justice and more. This comedy-drama aims to educate on political history, whilst also empowering the audience in their own politics and provoke a challenging political awareness. Painted revolutionary is a new political satire where political concepts are (strange, deeply flawed and unrelenting) people. Struggle lives amongst words in her bookshop (not that she’d ever actually sell any of her books) with order (a well meaning frenemy) popping by to make sure she’s well and in check. But something’s about to happen that hasn’t occurred in years- struggle will be faced with an audience and with that comes a burden of responsibility. The stakes are high in this political comedy-drama, but struggle’s story holds a history, but whether it can build a future is yet to be seen. Bringing change isn’t easy, but the question may be: is it worth it?

The show will debut at Edinburgh fringe this August (7th August- 15th August at 19:25 in theatre 1 in the space@ surgeons hall). We are so excited and can’t wait for you all to see it!! Just under a week to go before growing pains makes its London debut at the fabulous and we are so excited. We’ve got cast interviews going up this week, but this honestly is a very funny and poignant show about the British education system, being in your mid-twenties and growing up (at any age). We’re getting closer to our goal!! Thank you so much to anyone who has put in, it really means the world and we couldn’t do it without you!! If you haven’t donated yet, there’s still time. Our crowdfunder is open until the end of June and we also have a gofundme- both links can be found in our bio or in the fringemakers website l. We appreciate your support so much. This year we need a lot of help to get us to fringe so if you feel able to donate, we would be eternally grateful. We believe in working for our community and we want as many people to be apart of this journey as possible.
