The story behind why I paint stripes…and what happens when I get out of my comfort zone!

I love painting my striped ceramics. The underglaze gives me an element of predictability that I personally could never find with, what I call, ‘proper’ glaze.

But having got VERY out of my comfort zone in both hand building and proper glazing for the first time in a very long time, I am seeing that initial spark that first got me hooked into pottery.

So scroll along, have a read and see what happened when I was pushed myself through fear!

These are my go to, to bring to Cornwall with me every year! i’m a newest addition this year is my ceramics - why did I not think of this before??!?

it might seem mad, but having come here for over 15 years, I’ve honed it down for tee of what makes the holiday that much easier.

There is probably loads that I have forgotten, like Tupperware boxes but hopefully you might see something and think yes obviously I need to take that with me too!

Have a happy holiday X

Why do I do this?

Well, this basil 🌿 has been in there for several weeks – she’s done me proud but her roots are leaching out the bottom which means she’s ready to go into a big bed. Who am I to stop her spreading her roots! If I do that she’ll grow big and I can make pesto!

So as I say, I’m sprucing up my burgundy herb pot with a fresh supermarket basil pot to give my kitchen windowsill a lick of life.

Ps - I filmed this last weekend hence the weird order if you see me in Cornwall on my stories!

Introducing my newest colour way in a mug, herb pot and vase. Sky blue and wheat stripes. 🌾

I’ve 100% been inspired by the beautiful Light browns and blue skies in all the Wheat fields out in the Oxford countryside this year. My phone is FULL of photos and so this is my newest colour, in ode to those farmers who work tirelessly to grow our wheat.

Tone a new colourway, but also a new stripe design. As always, each piece is handmade by me and then meticulously handpainted.

Let me know in the comments what you think. 🌾💙
