Streetz Ahead was founded in 2002 by Michelle Hawkes. It is now an European Gold medal winning dance school which is thriving. It has expanded to 2 locations in Essex being Waltham Abbey and Woodford. Due to the success of the Dance Academy, Michelle has also branched out to become the founder of Find Your Feet Musical Theatre School based in Woodford in 2012. eet Ballet, Hip Hop, Breakdance, Acting, singing and Performance Skills. Alongside all the practical elements of the Performing Industry, Michelle and her instructors are able to offer support, and experience as professional dancers. They have performed for and represented many establishments and corporations such as Pineapple Dance Studios, Sky Sports, and partaking in Sky 1's Show Got to Dance, where the Break dance instructor Ash-Lee and his troupe Methods of movement got to the finals. With this knowledge they are able to help their students to deal with the pressures of this industry for example dealing with auditions.

A lot of our students have been with us 10yr + with some coming on 17yrs πŸ₯°

When choosing a school it’s important to look not just at classes for your child’s age but also what’s offered for the older age groups .

To have a school that you can feel confident with your child’s development as they grow is vital and in turn makes them a stronger dancer/ performer

And that’s a rap for DWC 2026.

26 pupils successfully qualified through the England heats placing top 5 with their routines including 4 team routines, 3 duos, 6 solos.

The statistics show that only 7% of England schools make it through to represent their country on the world stage and this little school from Waltham Abbey/ Woodford is one of them πŸ’œ

Organisers, judges, fellow dance schools will all agree that getting this far is a win within itself, use the world stage to enjoy your performance and realise how far you’ve come. Anything else is a bonus.

We believe you learn so much when performing on such a big platform. it’s where you learn to handle pressure, how to breathe correctly, listen and dance to time without nerves speeding you up, not to mention remembering the choreography and getting it right, executing the steps with power whilst learning to sit back when needing to and on top of all that, don’t forget to use your face!!!!

A lot to ask from kids aged 10-18yrs , especially with some being their FIRST EVER COMP. So when we say how very proud we are of you, pls let that sink in!! Realise how very talented you are , how you’ve applied yourself to the best of your ability and just keep getting better!

Well done to absolutely everyone, thank you dancers for being amazing not just as a dancer but also an individual, always smiling and not feeling the pressure πŸ’œ
