Following the success of Mothering by Caroline Walker, we are delighted to be launching our Mothering: Creative Wellbeing for Parents sessions.

At these monthly sessions focused on wellbeing, you can take time out to relax, socialise and be creative. You can join us at the first session on Tuesday 7th July, 1-3pm.

Meet our learning team in the gallery space to enjoy the artworks on display, play with your child, or have a lovely chat with other parents. Then head to the learning studio for a relaxed and informal creative activity with refreshments provided. You can work independently or connect with other members of the group.

No art experience is necessary and everyone is welcome, including babies and children under 5. Sessions are free, no need to book, just turn up and stay as long as wish between 1 and 3pm.

The news of David Hockney’s death fills us with sadness and we join the art world in mourning one of the most influential British artists of the past century.

Born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, Hockney made regular visits as a student at Bradford College of Art to the contemporary art exhibitions held at the former Wakefield Art Gallery. Almost 60 years later, our 2019 exhibition celebrated Hockney’s early works alongside those of painter Alan Davie. West Yorkshire was not simply Hockney's birthplace it remained a lifelong inspiration and he brought the landscapes of Yorkshire to audiences around the world.

Our thoughts are with Hockney’s family and friends.
