WKMTC, West Kirby Musical Theatre Company (formerly WKLOS) - was formed in 1950 and celebrated its 70th birthday last year. It has acquired a reputation as a leading non-professional musical theatre company in the North West of England. The Company has appeared at all the major performance venues on the Wirral and in Liverpool including the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton, the Gladstone Theatre, Po

rt Sunlight, the Empire Theatre, Liverpool, the Royal Court Theatre, Liverpool the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool, the Main Hall and Concert Room of St George’s Hall, Liverpool and both the Liverpool Anglican and RC Metropolitan Cathedrals. Historically the Company has presented the majority of the standard musical repertoire of the larger amateur operatic societies. However, within recent times the Company has sought to expand its horizons by performing more contemporary and artistically challenging works including: Chess; Candide; Evita; Titanic The Musical; The Secret Garden; Seussical; O What A Lovely War; A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum; and Company. The Company has acquired a reputation for the strength of its choral singing. It has a wide and varied repertoire and is a regular performer at concert venues both on the Wirral and further afield. In 2000 the Company’s first production of Chess at the Floral Pavilion won the NODA North West Area Best Musical award. In 2005 the Company’s first production of Titanic The Musical at the Liverpool Empire won this top award for a second time.
