Recently I stayed in a cottage with a resident barn owl living in the roof space. I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of her as she slipped silently out to hunt for food. Watching her emerge into the evening light felt like a small gift.
I found these delicate feathers in the barn beside the cottage, where she flew in and out tending to her chicks. Holding them in my hand, I was reminded of how closely our lives can brush against the wild world without us even noticing.
Barn owls have long been associated with wisdom, mystery, and the hidden realms between light and darkness. Encounters like this feel like a gentle invitation to pay closer attention to the wonders that share our landscape.
Have you ever had an unexpected wildlife encounter that stayed with you?
