The work created by 21 local school schools is still brightening up The Coro. It has been wonderful to see so many schools booking a class visit in the last two weeks and we look forward to welcoming more this week. Children are enjoying seeing the display, doing mini workshops and visiting the library. The work is on display until the 22nd May. Thank you to all the schools that got involved, ensuring this essential part of the curriculum is valued and celebrated.

Another Printfest weekend has been and gone, so many great artworks all under one roof. Thankyou to all our printmakers that traveled far and wide to bring such an eclectic mix of printmaking techniques. To all our visitors that bring the busy buzz to the Coronation Hall, the conversations, the smiles and the new art you bought to take those smiles back home with you. To the stewards, volunteers, sponsors, build crew and the Printfest team that make this fantastic show run so smoothly. Over 2,000 visitors attended Printfest this year, enjoying workshops, chatting to printmakers, seeing and purchasing some great art. What a great weekend!

~ Young Printmakers of the Year ~

Artist Aga Kubish had the difficult job of choosing our young winners this year, 21 schools got involved, with young people from across the region producing really exciting handmade prints.

Our Winners are:
Finley in year 1, from Cambridge Primary School in Barrow for his wonderful collagraph print of a boat going under the open Walney bridge.
Jessica in year 13, from The Queen Katherine School in Kendal, for her superb, large floral triptych lino cuts.
A student in KS3 from Sandgate School in Kendal for his multimedia 3D depiction of a scene in the park.
All superb pieces of work carried out with creativity and skill. All 3 winners will receive a handmade certificate and will have their work framed and on display at next years event. Well done to all of the young people involved and thank you very much to the schools and their teachers for making the whole display possible.
