A couple of weeks ago, my lovely neighbour called over to me whilst I was out tidying my garden, and kindly gave me a bunch of beautiful daffodils that she had grown! 🌼

They were in full bloom, frilly and inspiring so I’ve spent some time drawing spring flowers and first up we have tulips! (Mainly because I’m still working on the daffs 🙂‍↕️) I have some bright pink tulips in a vase in my kitchen currently, so I used them as my inspiration 🌷

Hello new website! ⭐️

I’ve spent some time building my own site and I’m so thrilled to announce that it recently went live! Here you’ll currently find travel illustrations inspired by the Lake District, South Lakeland and Cumbria, along with drawings of things that bring me joy.

The most recent design that’s been added is one I shared recently titled “A Run to the Hoad at Twilight.” And you’ll find it available as a print or a double sided bookmark!

On a cold and blustery day like today, I’m even more eager for spring to arrive and all the loveliness that comes with it.

Since there isn’t much in bloom at the moment, I thought I’d draw some simple flowers instead! I’ve been playing around with lots of new brushstrokes recently, and this particular one has become my go to. I love the layered look and how the brush adds more pigment to an area when it’s layered over something I’ve already drawn, creating new shapes within the strokes themselves. 🌸

During the week, I work in a studio based in Ulverston, where we’re lucky to have a beautiful view of the Sir John Barrow Monument, also known as The Hoad. One evening last week, as I was getting ready to head home, I noticed a cluster of bright lights twinkling on Hoad Hill. There were around 30 runners gradually making their way down the hillside.
They were well equipped for the darker conditions, each wearing a head torch to illuminate the path ahead, which created a fun light display!

As someone who enjoys a run myself, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by the spectacle. So here is one of my latest Ulverston-inspired illustrations, titled “A run to the Hoad at twilight.”

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and I’ve started to see some LOVELY pictures filling my feed. Including one shared by a favourite account of mine ❣️

The feature was on the incredibly talented who creates beautiful & artistic installations on her town house stoop in the upper east side of NYC !! Which is what inspired this illustration. 🩷
Although I have never been to New York, both of these accounts fill me with such joy, as they continue to share their talents and snippets of magical things happening across the pond. Like this gorgeous installation inviting people to send their love letters! 💌

What do you think?❣️🤍🩷 Xoxo

Winter essentials are needed as it’s rather chilly out there! Here’s a few of my favourite things for this time of year 🧣🧦🧤

A toasty warm pair of gloves or mittens, fresh winter foliage to brighten up the house, woolly socks, sunglasses for that golden hour sun, boots, lippy or gloss and a hat. Funnily enough, I drew this illustration before Christmas and my brother gifted me a bobble hat almost the same shade as this one!

Illustrative Christmas wrapping paper 🎄

Imagining how this fun and festive pattern would look as gift wrap, or even fabric wrap… Maybe I’ll get some printed next year! It features a happy snowman wearing a beret, a Christmas tree, an advent calendar, presents, stars, candy canes, festive foliage and more 🤍

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree 🎄✨

I could quite happily create Christmas inspired illustrations all year long. This year we’ve had a few new bauble additions to our Christmas tree, including a hedgehog wearing a hat and scarf and a glass bauble made at Cumbria crystal… Our baubles are a mix of playfully quaint things, retro and family baubles that have been passed down, along with some that tie with the decor.
The majority of them have a story behind them and I love reminiscing of those whilst decorating the tree. Maybe I’ll include some of our baubles on my next Christmas tree drawing!
