From mid May 2022, LochCroistean is entering an exciting new phase of life under new ownership. Mairi Gillies is an artist with a passion for Gaelic heritage, history and culture and she is setting up a Gaelic visual arts hub called Reothart nan Ealain in the old school. Through the shop and programme of events, courses, walks, talks and adventures the hub will offer an inviting, relaxing and creative space to visit. There will be a range of classes and events focusing on Gaelic visual arts as well as storytelling, song and step dancing to name a few. Check out the website www.reothart.scot. I am delighted to be passing on this lovely old building to a new future in the arts and wish Mairi the very best in her venture.
Reothart nan Ealain is a Gaelic visual arts hub based in Uig, Lewis, Outer Hebrides. We run events, courses and classes for visitors and community members alike, exploring Gaelic culture through creative, place-based learning.
