You too could be a Benefactor to the Arts.

The Uckfield Art Group have been a part of the Wealden Lottery since the lottery first started. Members have won small amounts now and again. £25 here, £10 there, and the occasional free tickets for extra chances to win.

If you set up a small direct debit to enter the lottery, you could possibly win the Big One, or a little one, but always be helpful to the arts on a small monthly basis.

Every ticket purchased means a small amount goes to support the Club’s coffers, paying for the weekly hall rental, insurance for the two exhibitions a year and supports invited tutors to demonstrate to the group.

🎨 Artist Spotlight: Viv Kilby

In just a few weeks, we will be opening our annual Summer Exhibition, In This Place, bringing together more than 20 artists from across Wealden and East Sussex. In the run-up to the exhibition, we'll be shining a spotlight on each of our participating artists.

Today we're delighted to introduce Viv Kilby, a textile artist whose beautiful work celebrates nature, sustainability and the art of slow stitching.

Inspired by the natural world, Viv breathes new life into preloved fabrics, weaving together free-motion and hand embroidery to create one-of-a-kind textile artworks and beautifully crafted greetings cards.

Entirely self-taught, Viv has spent the past 14 years developing her distinctive style, transforming her passion for nature into richly textured works of art. She also creates her own naturally printed fabrics using leaves, flowers and other botanical materials, bringing an organic quality to every piece.

By combining recycled textiles, hand stitching and nature printing, Viv's work reflects both the beauty of the landscape and a commitment to sustainability. Every artwork tells a story of renewal, celebrating our connection with the natural world and the quiet beauty found within it.

Viv's thoughtful and tactile approach makes her work a wonderful addition to In This Place, where memory, landscape and our relationship with the environment are at the heart of the exhibition.

This annual exhibition celebrates the incredible creativity of artists from across Wealden and East Sussex and helps raise vital funds for our Arts for Wellbeing Programme, supporting positive mental health and wellbeing across Uckfield and the surrounding villages.

🎨 Artist Spotlight: Kate Rochester

In just a few weeks, we will be opening our annual Summer Exhibition, In This Place, bringing together more than 20 artists from across Wealden and East Sussex. In the run-up to the exhibition, we'll be shining a spotlight on each of our participating artists.

Today we're delighted to introduce newcomer Kate Rochester, whose expressive paintings are inspired by the colours, movement and atmosphere of the Sussex landscape.

Working in acrylics on canvas, Kate creates vibrant abstract, landscape and floral paintings bursting with energy, colour and expressive mark-making. Drawing inspiration from the Sussex coastline, meadows, gardens and countryside, she begins by filling sketchbooks on location before developing these observations into richly layered studio paintings.

Using an intuitive process, Kate allows shapes, brushstrokes, texture and mixed media to evolve naturally across the canvas. Layers are built up and revealed again, creating depth, movement and a wonderful sense of discovery.

Kate aims to capture the essence of a place—inviting the viewer to experience moments of energy, intrigue and tranquillity. Her colourful, expressive work is a perfect response to the theme In This Place.
