Lots on at the Wisbech & Fenland Museum this Summer holidays 😊

With summer holidays fast approaching, here is a handy overview of what we have on offer so far.

6 August: FREE ENTRY Summer Family Open Day with ancient Egyptian themed crafts and activities.

15 August: Holiday Club with Big Sky Arts; booking essential.

20 August: Draw like an ancient Egyptian with illustrator Moira Millman; booking essential.

27 August: Animals of Ancient Egypt drop-in crafts and activities.

29 August: Egyptian Charm Bracelets workshop; booking essential.

You will also find us in the Youth Zone offering free creative activities at WisBEACH Rock Festival on Sunday 3 August.

Our summer exhibition, Ancient Egypt, will run from Saturday 26 July to Saturday 13 September during normal Museum opening hours (Wednesday-Saturday, 10:00-16:00)

Adult annual pass costs just £5 giving unlimited visits for 12 months.
Under 16s always visit FREE.

I’ve also grouted my new house sign and the boys have finished theirs too.

I can’t wait to see my new house sign up, just have to wait for my husband to finish tidying up the front of the house!

The boys are happy with theirs too, they (one more than the other) enjoyed the messy grouting also!

I’m just glad I haven’t got any more to grout in the extreme heat we’ve had recently, that added an extra element of difficulty to the process!!

Although saying that, I am planning my next mosaic, with broken china I’ve been saving up….

Yesterday these mosaics went to their new home!

I’m so impressed with how the large one has turned out and think it will look lovely when it’s up in their garden area.
Once it’s up, it will have the corners tiled and grouted.

Another day of mosaic making, this time with my boys!

Now tomorrow a day of grouting, I can’t wait to see the results.

These came up on my Facebook memories… 9 years ago I helped primary aged children create a clay portrait of themselves which we attached to boards and they then mosaicked around. It was a massive project, three big boards with all of the school taking part in.

And at the moment I am working on another school mosaic ☺️ which is very nearly finished!

I was back at Home Tree School this week creating more mosaics. As well as individual mosaics, we started on this group sign for their garden.
I think it’s looking great so far and can’t wait to see how it turns out!

After looking through some stamp collections at I dug out some we inherited several years ago.

I’m torn between just admiring how cool they are and starting up a stamp collection of my own or make some art with them. Or maybe displaying some particularly pretty ones??
It feels like a shame for them to be filed away in a cupboard…

I’m pretty proud of my second attempt at paper piecing! Thank you Amy for being so patient with me today. (My brain wasn’t functioning fully!)

Now I feel the need to try something a little trickier…! Off to Pinterest to find some patterns!

I thought today would be perfect to share a sketch of Yoda my eldest drew recently. We have some big Star Wars fans in the house!

So this week I sat for an hour while my little one drew me… My favourite part are all the details, from patterns on blankets to the time on the clock, but especially the dark circles around my eyes!! Also the commentary on how many chins I had 😂
