Tunbridge Wells Parents! Be the first to know about our brand new dance classes by signing up to the Footsteps Academy Newsletter via our website. Footsteps Studio is a new and exciting dance and fitness studio in central Tunbridge Wells. We pride ourselves on our warm, inviting atmosphere where we welcome everyone no matter their level of dance or fitness. We are inclusive of everyone and have classes to cater to all levels from complete beginner to advanced.

Do you have a child aged 3-5? Our Mini Acro classes are a fun, exciting way to spend Friday mornings!
We focus on building strength and co-ordination all whilst having loads of fun!
We teach the basics of forward rolls and cartwheels and moving our bodies.
Children are particular fans of our air track which gives them a very soft landing when they’re learning to balance in their new acro moves.

Progressing Ballet Technique is an innovative program using a fit ball, developed by Marie Walton-Mahon for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best in classical ballet. It improves students understanding of core stability, weight placement and alignment. It is a truly fantastic programme that not only hugely benefits the students alongside their ballet classes but is great fun! 🩰

A love of dance can start as soon as children can toddle, that’s why we offer our Parent & Me Ballet classes.
We welcome 0-2 year olds and their parent or carer to experience the fun of moving their bodies at our Footsteps Studio ~

Tap Dancing in Tunbridge Wells from age 3+
Start your Tap Dancing journey right here at Footsteps! Tap is not only an essential skill for the professional dancer but is a great fun, rhythmic form of dance. Tap turns the dancer into a percussive instrument experimenting with different sounds and beats. It is a great way to develop rhythm and co-ordination. Dancers learn an acute sense of timing and an agility of footwork.
Students can start from age 3-4 and we offer ISTD examination classes from Primary upwards.

Students are invited to Pointe Work classes once teachers feel they have the strength and technique needed to enable them to work safely on pointe. This is a big achievement and students are all very keen to get their first pair of pointe shoes! 🩰

The class works on the strength, poise, balance and flexibility to enhance pointe work. Classes will also include general body conditioning. Pupils are encouraged to continually work on their strength and flexibility to improve their ability as a dancer.

Acrobatic Dance, or Acro as it is commonly referred to, is the fusion of dance technique and acrobatic elements. This is a very popular class and lots of fun for your little ones! 🤸‍♀️

Acro technique includes balancing, limbering, tumbling, and partnering, based in flexibility and strength.

We follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus which is a 12 step programme that starts at the very beginning of the acro journey. We also will be offering Acrobatic Arts Exams.
Acro-Dance is not the same as gymnastics and requires different training. Dance training is essential to the success of the Acro-Dancer. The students will learn to seamlessly incorporate their Acro skills into dance routines.

Our Pre School Ballet Classes are lots of fun for children aged 2.5 and upwards. They are a brilliant introduction into the world of dance.
We introduce creative movement with different music from nursery rhymes to classical pieces and use props such as wands, scarves and pom poms to enhance the experience.
Dancers love being butterflies, soldiers and hopping bunnies and they all look forward to their sticker at the end of class to go into their Footsteps sticker book. 🐰
