Every holiday I just paint. I did a whole load of paintings on paper in the mountains in Cyprus last year. So relaxing. Over the weekend I did some digital mixing of them with some of my normal collage work. Kind of fun.

3 more in progress on the table. They mostly work in series mostly because of the base material I’m using at the time. This time it’s the cardboard squares from an old photo album when all the photos fell out.

Always I find the work compresses and expands time, reshapes and rearranges it. This is Brick Lane. I took the photo there nearly 30 years ago. I got the sushi wrapper maybe 20 years ago in NYC. I bought the acetate a few weeks ago online from Cornwall. That offcut of paper has been with me forever. But the photo was always in my mind. Somewhere.
