As a jewel in the crown of Cornwall’s arts scene, Truro Cathedral Choir broadcasts regularly on television and radio, presents concerts throughout the year, and records for the acclaimed record label Regent. The choir dates back to the 1880s when services took place in a wooden shed whilst John Loughborough Pearson’s magnificent Gothic Revival cathedral was still under construction. Today, the cho

As James, Andrew and Alfie approach the final few days before their sponsored half-marathon, James has given us a little message about his training.

"I’ve really enjoyed getting into running over the last few months, and it has done wonders for my health and wellbeing. I am very grateful to my organist colleagues for lighting the spark! I’m really looking forward to taking on the Rame Head Half on Saturday, and feel so grateful to everyone who is generously supporting us.

I’ve had some great training runs so far, with a few particular highlights. One of my favourites was a 17km run in torrential rain, exploring the amazing old mining area around Twelveheads. The roads were flooded in many places, so there was plenty of wading required! Another highlight has been getting involved in the Parkruns at Trelissick on Saturday mornings. Seeing my 5km time improve by five minutes over the course of the training has been hugely encouraging, and I’m definitely going to keep running after the half-marathon!"

Donations of all amounts are very much appreciated, and with just 3️⃣ days to go, if you would like to support, you can find more information on the GoFundMe page 🔗 https://buff.ly/sP8ilb1

All funds raised will go directly to supporting Truro Cathedral Music. Thank you 🙏

This week's organ concert, on Thursday (11 June), will be performed by Ben Scott.

All are very welcome to attend in person. For those unable to attend, there will be a live stream on the cathedral's YouTube channel.

There is no charge to attend or listen to these, and the cathedral only asks that if you are able, you consider making a donation - the income generated by the generosity of both the audience and artists (who play for free) directly supports music at the cathedral and the ability to continue to offer such community events.

A quick update from James on how the guys' training is going ahead of their sponsored marathon 👇️

On Thursday morning, Alfie and I headed out for a long training run as the 13th June half-marathon at Rame Head looms.

Pushing ourselves, we found some pace and completed the half-marathon distance in 1hr 47! The run went up to Highertown, down the lanes to Twelveheads, along the lovely Bissoe Trail to Devoran, and then back to Truro. Both of us were feeling rather tired after, with 340m elevation gain! There is a big challenge ahead at Rame Head, where we will have to conquer about double that on the coast path!

Many of you have generously supported us already, to which we cannot thank you enough, but there is still time, and we are looking to raise even more - do sponsor us here 🔗 https://buff.ly/sP8ilb1

The money we raise is going directly to supporting Truro Cathedral Music.

Thank you! 🙌

We had such a wonderful time singing in the Cornish-sung Eucharist at the cathedral on Wednesday (3 June) 🎶

This was a significant moment for the Church in Cornwall and for the Cornish language, as this was the first Mass to be written completely in Cornish.

If you haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, or you want to relive this monumental moment, you can watch it on the cathedral's YouTube channel 👇️
