Boom Theatre brings a Cornish reimagining of CATS to Truro!

The new music centre has welcomed BOOM Theatre this week as the company prepares to bring its latest production, CATS: A Cornish Reimagining, to the stage at Truro School.

We were able to catch the cast during rehearsals this afternoon, as preparations were in full swing ahead of the production’s first performance this evening.

This version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s much-loved musical takes the familiar story of the Jellicle Cats and places it firmly in the Cornish landscape.

Rather than the traditional urban junkyard setting, the production sees the Jellicle Moon rise over the rugged coastline of Cornwall, with the characters reimagined through the county’s landscapes, folklore and history.

A showcase for some of Cornwall’s emerging performing talent, the cast includes experienced young performers who have appeared on stages across the county, with several preparing to continue their studies at leading performing arts conservatories later this year.
For many, the production offers a chance to perform on home soil before taking the next steps in their careers, with ambitions that could ultimately lead to the West End.

Performances continue throughout the weekend at Truro School, with tickets still available for some shows.

So, if you fancy seeing Cornwall through a rather different set of eyes — and perhaps bringing along a pair of cat ears — there is still time to join BOOM Theatre this weekend.

It was a pleasure to host The All Seasons and Acappella Sound for a fantastic evening of live music in our brand-new Music Centre.

Guests were among the first to experience this impressive new venue on the Truro School campus, enjoying an evening filled with outstanding performances, incredible harmonies and the timeless music of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. From the very first song, the atmosphere was electric, with many audience members up on their feet dancing and singing along to the much-loved classics.

A special thank you to Acappella Sound for opening the evening with a wonderful performance, setting the tone for a memorable night of entertainment.

It was wonderful to see our new Music Centre come alive with music and laughter, and we look forward to welcoming many more performers and audiences through its doors in the months and years ahead.

This afternoon, we have been delighted to welcome Miracle Theatre to Truro School for a performance of their hugely popular production of *Peer Gynt*.

A packed audience gathered in our brand-new Music Centre, which officially opened last week, to enjoy a lively and entertaining adventure filled with humour, larger-than-life characters, Norse mythology, mischievous trolls and Miracle Theatre's signature blend of physical comedy and imaginative storytelling.

Due to the extreme weather, the decision was made to move the performance indoors rather than stage it on the outdoor terraces. As a result, our guests were among the very first to experience this exciting new performance space.

If you missed this afternoon's performance, there's still time to catch the show this evening.
