And that’s a wrap! Final session of Colour and Light today - we are SO proud of the young artists who’ve attended, it’s been incredible to see how their work has come on over the last year. Thank you for all the kind words over the last few weeks and every finger crossed to be seeing you all again soon, Ally and Anna xx

Young artists from SILT’s Colour and Light Youth Programme The Old Town Hall Trowbridge Gallery for Teen Trowbridge; they tested ink colours, modifiers and materials from SILT studio, demonstrating some of the processes used to make their work. We talked to the public about the exhibition and the making methods whilst some of the group continued their own projects within the exhibition space.

We’re moving! At the end of July we’re moving back into the Old Town Hall. This suits us both well as it gives us a lot more flexibility and we’re very pleased with this decision. We are still available for our usual workshops and off-site bookings - Experimental Drawing Club will run from the Old Town Hall, other classes can be requested. We’ll miss our lovely neighbours down St George’s Mews but happily still very close in Trowbridge Town Centre 💗

Really proud of the participants on our Colour & Light studio programme - their fantastic work is now on display in The Old Town Hall Trowbridge gallery: Exhibition runs until 11th July; Monday - Saturday 9am - 4pm

Well done to our Colour and Light young artists on this Saturday’s session - everyone carried on making fantastic artworks and tried some processes they hadn’t had a go at before: Rose ink and rainbow anthotypes, tiger drawings, watercolours and kitchen towel plushies - brilliant! 💖💅💜

Jewels and juicy colours in the Botanical Ink Making SILT workshop for the onpaperfest Festival Athena | Meticulous Ink in Bath today led by Alison Ballance . We looked at a range of ways to make colour from various kitchen waste and tannin sources. A play with modifiers and then we made colour wheels, art works and patterns with the natural colour palettes. Met some very wonderful people and hope to see you all again soon Ax 💖🌈💜🏵🪻

Join us for an exhibition of works by the young people who have attended the youth programme at SILT: Sustainable Image Lab CiC. We’re delighted to partner with The Old Town Hall Trowbridge for this exhibition.

Colour & Light is a year-long, Arts Council-funded eco-art programme provided free for 11–18 year olds based at SILT studio, Trowbridge. The sessions are held on Saturday mornings, during which young artists take part in sustainable art sessions exploring mixed media, drawing, plant-based inks and dyes, mark making, eco-photography, printing and textiles. The participants work on their projects in a professional artist studio environment, exploring and expanding their brilliant ideas amidst discussions of art making in contemporary contexts.

There will be a private view for the participants of Colour & Light and their families plus friends of SILT on Monday 15th June, 5pm – 7pm, at The Old Town Hall, Trowbridge. The show will then run Tuesday 16th June – Saturday 11th July 11am.
