When we were in the Borders earlier this year, I found some beautiful 1960 Sheffield hallmarked Sterling Silver Art Deco style teaspoons in a little antique shop in Melrose. It has taken me until now to pluck up the courage to make one of them into a spoon handle ring! What do you think? ❤️❤️❤️

We just had our book club meeting. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. We discussed The Jester by Alexis Brooke. For next month we’re ready Veil of Stone.

Veil of Stone is my collaboration with AP Beswick. It’s a dark fantasy retelling of the Medusa myth. We’ll be meeting on September 8th at 1pm.

Our read for October will be a historical fantasy, Disrupting Destiny, by our friend, Jan Foster.

Another one of Garry’s signs. Such Fun! 😂

Another one of Garry’s signs. Such Fun! 😂

Well… that was definitely unexpected! 🤯❤️

Sold out of a mountain of beans by mid-morning, then almost everything else by early afternoon, so we closed early!

Thank you all so much! ❤️ The Secret Garden was buzzing, the Cabin was buzzing, and you were all so lovely! 🥰

See you Tuesday… with more beans of course! 😇

Sunday 2nd August 2026

The start of the week was mostly about things taking longer than I thought they would. Posting stuff, lack of Internet and trying to get to grips with US tariffs. Again.
Then on Wednesday a lovely surprise in the form of Peter Grey Hare. Those of you who have read Wing and Water, or who followed the journey that Chris and I made up the Thames during another hot summer in 2018 - Peter was with us on that journey and is probably one of my oldest boater friends. Millie was over the moon with happiness to see him and his little dog. We all sat under the willow tree and talked for several hours ( the dogs didn't talk , they were busy napping in the shade).
It was a good day...it reminded me who I used to be.
A few weeks ago I had to get the gas regulator changed. It's the device that connects bottled gas to the pipework. It's a different design to the old one and is a bit bigger - and the gas lockers are a bit snug anyway. So last night I finally had to change the gas bottle. And as is customary, it was dark. Incantations were uttered. But I didn't cry, and Millie did an excellent job as emotional support dog.
A couple of things in the shop. I have more to add in the next few days.
