WinterStorm

WinterStorm Weekend of Classic Rock on the west coast of Scotland - Four decades of rock n roll... They are looked after as guests.
(1)

WinterStorm was born in Troon Scotland in 2016 and since then it has continued to prosper through some highly challenging times, with the event selling more than 3000 tickets over the four days of the event. It continues to punch above its weight in terms of bands and artistes attracted and there is no doubt that this is down to the unique atmosphere that the venue and its audience creates. Winter

Storm is fully committed to offering the best experience an old school concert hall venue can provide with local suppliers providing the services and communities engaged at every level. Quality bar and catering operations offering Scottish produce and real ales are matched by the amazing work of the volunteer service provided by the legion of ‘StormTroopers. WinterStorm has grown with a commitment to looking after the “talent”; bands and musicians make WinterStorm, and the organisers take immense pride with the feedback from artists, with bands ALWAYS more than impressed with the sound provided and the levels of service given. WinterStorm’s reputation has grown through the word of mouth of bands and management and this support has undoubtedly helped the organisers to attract others to the stage year on year. The event provides a truly unique atmosphere in the compact 850 capacity main stage area and when fans and bands alike compare it favourably to the sound and atmosphere of the old Glasgow Apollo, those organising don’t take the compliment lightly. It is however exactly what they set out to achieve. It truly is a unique atmosphere and when fans and bands alike compare it favourably to the sound and atmosphere of the old Glasgow Apollo, we don’t take the compliment lightly but it is what we set out to achieve. WinterStorm alumni now include so many of our heroes and bands, old and new – Michael Schenker Group, Skid Row, Dead Daisies, Magnum, Focus, GUN, FM, Last in Line, The Quireboys, Wayward Sons, Tyketto, – Heavy Metal and old school bands such as Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head, Praying Mantis, Vardis, Quartz, Girlschool, OD Saxon, Geordie and Rock Goddess and individual heroes such as Bernie Marsden, Uli Jon Roth, Graham Bonnett, Geoff Tate, Martin Barre, Pete Way, Ricky Warwick, Neil Murray, Blaze Bayley and Paul Di’anno, Pat McManus, Cherie Currie and Marco Mendoza
European talent has played its part too; H.E.A.T, The New Roses, Eclipse, Crazy Lixx amongst a catalogue of others; 2024 diversified its geographical spread yet further with The Damn Truth from Canada, Von Hertzen Brothers from Finland, Electric Gypsy from Brazil, SEVI from Bulgaria and Girish and The Chronicles from India. Add in the new generation bands such as Those Damn Crows, Stone Broken, Massive Wagons, Florence Black, Tailgunner and a whole load more of bands embraced enthusiastically by the WinterStorm fan base. And of course, WinterStorm is proudly Scottish. So, it's no surprise to discover that they have featured the occasional pipe band, Celtic tribal bands and the obligatory Lone Piper to close each event out! Eight years and more than 300 bands later, WinterStorm HAS no doubt punched above its weight and they’ve only been able to do this through fans, bands and artistes supporting the ethos of WinterStorm and its team.

We are really looking forward to the very first gig we've put on at The Piv in Ayr in just over a fortnight with Rush tribute - and anyone who has seen them will tell you just how authentic they are. It's looking like a healthy start to the first live event in the Ayr Pavilion but if you haven't got your ticket yet why not be part of the start of something special. 7pm doors; first set 7:45 - 8:45; second set from 9.00 - 1015. First of many with your support. Tickets from Skiddle.

Balcony seats almost sold out now!

A WORD OF ADVICE TO ANY FESTIVAL ORGANISER THINKING ABOUT CREATING A TENTH-ANNIVERSARY WHISKY…

Allow plenty of time! 🥃

We’ll tell the full story another day, but for now we are delighted to say that the WinterStorm tenth-anniversary whisky is finally coming together—and we think it will have been worth the wait.

If you pre-registered last year to be notified when the whisky became available, you should receive an email and purchase link within the next 24 hours.

This is a ten-year-old, cask-strength Bunnahabhain Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, matured in one first-fill bourbon cask. It was laid down in 2016, just as the doors opened on the very first WinterStorm Rock Weekend.

Ten years later, the whisky and the festival have finally come together in one very special commemorative release.

No more than 200 individually numbered bottles will be produced, and the initial expressions of interest exceeded the anticipated allocation. We will therefore open a waiting list for any bottles that become available.

The draft presentation packaging is shown below. This is a premium, extremely limited release and, inevitably, it is not inexpensive—but we wanted to mark ten years of WinterStorm with something genuinely Scottish, distinctive and completely unrepeatable. We’re pretty delighted with how it is finally taking shape.

If you are a previous WinterStorm ticket holder and would be interested in buying a bottle to open, collect or give as a very special Christmas gift, let us know and we’ll add you to the secondary list.

We’d love to hear what you think of the packaging—and please share this with any whisky lovers who might appreciate the story behind it.

Raising a glass to the music that brought us together. 🥃🤘

WinterStorm will bring five consecutive days of live music to Troon for the first time in its ten-year history, with three standalone concerts complementing the festival’s established three-day classic rock weekend.
The programme opens at Troon Concert Hall on Wednesday 25 November with the Bay City Rollers before WinterStorm’s tenth-anniversary festival, StormForce X, takes over the venue from Thursday 26 until Saturday 28 November.
Two separate After the ’Storm concerts follow on Sunday 29 November: a family-friendly afternoon with Colonel Mustard & The Dijon Five and a fully seated evening performance by Scotland’s acclaimed Pink Floyd tribute MacFloyd.
The Wednesday and Sunday events are individually ticketed and open to everyone. Audiences do not need to hold a ticket for the main WinterStorm festival, but each concert will benefit from the full-scale sound, lighting and production installed for the rock weekend.

Part of this has always been about new bands, and it's fair to say that the team behind the Sessions Stage year after year didn't get the credit for WinterStorm showcasing as many new bands as it did classic and heritage acts. Gwailo just another in a very long line of superb bands to play. Look forward to it too.
