It was great to see Choristers from Hereford Police Male Voice Choir attending our Open Evening event last night. It was a pleasure to meet you gentlemen and we look forward to your choir joining us at our concert in Hereford Cathedral in September 🎶

Our Choir Chairman (Ray), Bass Chorister Gareth and Steve (joint Baritone chorister of both our choir and Treorchy Male Choir) attended Treorchy Male Choir’s Open Evening last night. They are photographed here with Rhiannon Williams (Musical Director of Treorchy Male Choir). We also had the pleasure of meeting Mr Phillip Tolley - the Secretary of the Welsh Association Of Male Choirs - Cymdeithas Corau Meibion Cymru - WAMC who was also in attendance.

The event was very successful and the Australian Welsh Male Choir were also present and rehearsed and performed with the Treorchy Male Choir. Our three Choristers joined both choirs in singing Rachie, Calon Lan and Gwinllan A Roddwyd I'm Gofal - what an amazing experience! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🎶

A few more pics from last night in Hermon Chapel, showing the crowds on the upper balcony, the Youth Choir performing, conducted by Noah Johns, and MD Rhiannon Williams conducting the afterglow with both choirs in Treorchy RFC. It was the same room where Max Boyce recorded his first album ‘Live at Treorchy’, so it is used to hosting special events 👌🎶🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Well! What a night we have had in practice. We were joined by the wonderful Australian Welsh Male Voice Choir, led by their Musical Director Tom Buchanan, during their tour of the UK and France. They sang with the massed Welsh Choirs in the Royal Albert Hall recently too, and are having a fantastic time in this country. They listened to us rehearsing for upcoming concerts, before joining us to sing ‘Anthem’ from Chess, and Gwahoddiad. Their President, Ian Mackie and Choir Chairman Tony Giannotti are pictured here, exchanging gifts of mutual appreciation between the choirs. Our former MD Jeff Howard was also in attendance, as he has links with both choirs, having been invited to Melbourne a couple of years ago to conduct their Gymanfa Ganu for their 50th anniversary. Jeff played piano for a number of pieces. We also welcomed our Youth Choir, who were brilliant in their first public performance and they received huge applause from a large and appreciative crowd. Led by Noah Johns and accompanied by Laura Deenik, it is incredible to see how far they have come, in the three months since they were formed. Bravo 👏. After a very rapid run through of ‘Pantyfedwen’ and ‘St Elmo’s Fire’ (the rock anthem from the 1980’s) by Jon Parr, expertly managed by our MD Rhiannon Williams, we adjourned to Treorchy RFC next door for food, a few drinks and some great socialising between the choirs. Inevitably there was an ‘afterglow’ where the choirs sang a number of songs together, which was fantastic!
We were also delighted to welcome some prospective new choristers, who thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and have told me they will be coming back. So, an excellent evening all round. Friendships made and cemented, and a proper Treorchy night was had by all. 👍👌🍺🎶🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
