Vacancies - please share this far and wide!
Job Title: Bar Staff – Brew and Ballroom bars
We are looking to fill several positions to take us through our Autumn and Festive period, with the possibility of extending contracts into 2027. Specifically, we are looking for;
3 x Part-time weekend positions
1 x semi full-time position (min 30 hrs)
• Location: Totnes High Street
• Pay Rate: £12.75 – £13.40 per hour depending on
experience, tips and statutory holiday pay
• Hours: Primarily Thursday to Saturday nights (Late finishes
up to 1AM, occasionally later for special events)
About Us
The Totnes Brew bar is a busy central location independently run brew pub. We brew several beers on site and stock (probably!) the largest selection of craft beers in the area. It’s a community focused space that supports the local creative community, hosting a monthly programme of events in our Library Bar.
The Barrel House Ballroom is at the heart of the local live music scene and part of the national touring circuit - hosting everything from touring indie bands and local showcases to packed-out DJ nights. We blend great drinks, live music, and community vibes under one roof. Our calendar is packed, our crowd is legendary, and we need reliable, high-energy bar staff to join the crew.
The Role
Your main priorities will include:
• Fast-Pour Service: Slinging drafts, mixing spirits, and
keeping queues moving during busy periods
• Crowd Energy: Delivering welcoming, positive service to
gig-goers, regulars, and artists alike
• Floor & Bar Control: Keeping the bar spotless, collecting
glasses safely in a crowded room, and restocking under
pressure
• Safe Spaces: Working to our code of conduct, enforcing
Challenge 25 and ensuring a responsible, safe environment
for everyone
What You Bring
• The Vibe: You love live music and/or craft beers, thrive in
nighttime culture, and bring positive energy to a busy room
• The Drive: You are completely comfortable working late
weekend nights and standing for long, high-speed shifts
• The Rules: You must be 18+ due to licensing laws. High-
volume bar, festival, or club experience is a massive plus,
but a great work ethic is what wins us over. We are happy to
give full training to the right person.
The Perks
• Fair Pay: Competitive hourly rates with an equal, transparent
split of all team tips
• Gig Access: Free entry to our own promoted live shows
when you are off-duty
• Discounts: Generous staff discount on drinks across the
venue
• Career Growth: Real opportunities to step up into supervisor
or event management roles as we expand
To Apply – deadline 3rd September
Send us a CV and a quick line about your favourite music genre and why you want to work with us - either drop into the bar or email to Sarah at [email protected]
