We can’t wait to welcome Clare from Story Bears back to the woods for another of her lovely sessions, filled with music, movement and stories. On 2nd July we’re running two sessions again. The mixed age starts at 10am, although you’ll need to be quick as there are only a couple of spaces left. Then the baby session starts at 11.45am. Both sessions begin on the mats with Clare, followed by coffee and cake for the adults and a chance to explore the forest school.

☀️🍃Summer holiday forest school dates are now published. All sessions will centre around a weekly theme, there’ll be activities for the older kids, mats with toys for the babies, cake for the adults and a firepit at the end with s’mores. These tend to fill up quite quickly (we’ve already had a couple of bookings) so we suggest you feel smug and make Saplings in the Wood part of your kids’ summer. 🌭We’ve also put a cheeky weekend Hot Dogs and S’mores session as we’ve not done one in ages.

We’re hoping to hatch some more baby chickens! 🐣We have 12 fertilised eggs. 10 are in the incubator and we’ve just candled them (like an ultrasound for eggs - you hold a torch up to see if there are any veins. It’s day 5 so a little early but we got excited) and most seem to have a few veins. 🥚Two of our bantam polish chickens went broody so we’ve given them each a fertilised egg to try and hatch themselves. Only one of those eggs appears to have veins. We’ll keep you updated for all those chicken geeks out there!

👶 Join us in the woods on Thursday this week for Seedlings Baby and Toddler group, perfect for 0-2yrs. The babies can play on the rugs and the toddlers can explore the mud kitchen, the tree house, the monster truck track, the sandpit and more. All adults get a hot drink and cake included - we know the value of sugar, caffeine and the great outdoors!

Anyone else over Vinted? 👚👕👖👗
Well not for buying; we’re really good at that, but seem to be useless at selling stuff, so we’re giving up and instead it’s going to the charity shop. But before that, it’s all sorted into age baskets and before every session we’re going to put it out the front for anyone to have a rummage and take what you like. We have SO MUCH STUFF! All baby ages, summer clothes and winter jumpers, sleeping bags and suits, plus some for bigger kids too and some maternity/feeding bits. All free, just come along to a session and help us reduce our clutter by making it your clutter!

🌳The realities of running a forest school business and having three young kids👦👧👶

We absolutely love what we do but there’s no denying that running your own business comes with collateral. For us, it’s the house! We’re in a constant state of disarray and we really can’t blame the kids (or at least not for all of it). We always have ongoing projects, paraphernalia dotted around the place, too much stuff that we just can’t throw out, and amongst it all is the kids’ toys and crafts and clothes. But for us, it’s just our beautiful chaos. Perhaps if we had proper 9-5s, we’d be a bit more organised and live in slightly less shambles, but we’d definitely not be as happy!
