The second social evening this month, due to take place on Friday 29th May, will have a slightly different feel to say the least! One of our members, Stewart Molyneux, is fundraising for his huge challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in September!
You may recognise Stewart from some of our previous productions, such as Blithe Spirit, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Taking Steps🎭
Stewart says, “I am really grateful to Jon Manley and the committee for letting me take over the social evening for my event. It will be a massive challenge for me, but I’m undertaking this feat to raise funds for Rowcroft Hospice, all in memory of my Mum, Julie, who passed away in 2016, and my sister Claire, who passed away in March 2025 aged just 47. I know they will be with me every step of the way, pushing me up the mountain - or at least I hope so, as I’ll need all the help I can get!”
He continued, “I have tried to think of different ways to raise the money, which is about £6,000 in total and so far I have about £2,500, so still a way to go. I decided that I would wax my legs for this event, so people will be able to pay £10, and then rip a strip of wax off my leg and watch me suffer! We’ll be set up in the foyer area outside the auditorium doors by the bar, so people will be able to hear my screams whilst they enjoy a drink and a catch up with friends! I have waxed my legs before for charity so thought I’d try it again, I’m sure there are lots of people who would like to cause me a little bit of pain, even if it costs them a donation to the cause! I would also really like to thank my fellow TOADS member, Alison Lee, for providing the bed, wax, strips and her expertise as part of the event. I hope there’ll be lots of people who want to come along and bring as many friends as you can too. We’ll be ready to go from about 7pm, so see you there!"

We hope to see lots of you there on Friday!
