John has created a world within clay. 🤩

The textures tell one story, while the glazes tell another - from earthy, volcanic surfaces to pools of crystalline blue that sparkle in the sunlight.

This piece has a really striking organic, almost geological feel to it. The turquoise centre, earthy browns, crater-like textures and coral-inspired forms make it look like a miniature landscape, reef or aerial view of an unknown planet.

Great work John. 👏

The Japanese art of making cracks beautiful.

Most people would see a broken bowl.

Kintsugi invites us to see something else: a story worth preserving.

We spent the afternoon carefully repairing broken bowls, embracing imperfections and celebrating the beauty found in mending.

Send this to someone who needs a reminder that imperfect doesn’t mean ruined.

If you would like to experience Kintsugi for yourself, we’ll be running another workshop on the 25th October. Workshop details are available on our website in our bio.

✨We have limited spaces remaining on our workshop with Matthew Blakely this July✨

A rare opportunity to expand your glaze knowledge with one of the field’s most respected makers.

Join us for a five-day immersive pottery workshop with internationally renowned potter Matthew Blakely. Explore the possibilities of found materials-clay, ash, rocks-and learn how to transform them into unique ceramic glazes through hands-on testing, firings, and expert guidance.

𐃡 Day 1
Performing a series of glaze tests on your found materials; clay, ash and rocks. These will include melt tests, substitution tests and line-blends. All tests will be fired on the first evening.

𐃡 Day 2
Students will learn about glaze technology in the morning. In the afternoon Matthew will give an introduction to geology, specifically focused for potters.

𐃡 Day 3
The kiln will be opened and the tests studied and analysed.
Based on the initial results more complex testing with then be carried out, including biaxial blends, and these will be fired in the kiln.

𐃡 Day 4
Glaze faults and their remedies will be discussed. Students are asked to bring in any pieces of their own that exhibit some sort of fault to see if we can work out the cause. The kiln will be unpacked and the results discussed.
