Tideswell Theatre was established in 2002 to bring great theatre, music, dance and comedy to the village, run by Tideswell Community Players. The Players have been performing plays in this Peak District village since 1930. A friendly group, we always need new people to be involved: on stage, backstage, front of house, directing, props...you name it! As Tideswell Theatre it is a leading promoter fo

r the rural touring scheme, Live and Local, bringing professional theatre, dance, music and comedy to the village since 2002 as well as contracting direct with performers. Oddball Nuns Help Celebrate The Lead Up To Tideswell Wakes!

A gang of oddball nuns holed up in a disused convent feature in a comedy to be performed this month by Tideswell Community Players. Its in the lead in to the 80th anniversary of Tideswell’s famous Wakes and Welldressing!

The play, None the Wiser, by Anthony Booth, is a short comedy about some larger than life bogus nuns and their shoplifting habits. Set in the late 1960s, the ‘nuns’ have some unexpected guests who turn their lives upside down, with hilarious consequences. Tickets are already selling well, so make sure you get yours.

Tideswell Community Players returned to the stage last year, in their 95th year of performances, after a break of several years. The tremendously successful comedy whodunit Agatha…And the Village Hall Murders was directed by Samantha Davidson. None the Wiser, a fitting successor to that play, is also directed by Sam, and has some new faces and some familiar ones. It also has some surprise guests to help you enjoy your evening even more!

None the Wiser: 7:30pm Thursday 18th, Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June (the first day of Wakes). St John's Institute, Tideswell SK17 8NE (behind Tideswell Church).
