Highgrove Project (2023)

My inspiration for this project originated from the metal structures shaping Highgrove Gardens and the dark shadows they cast. Our first visit to the gardens was in February when winter allowed the frames to be exposed more than usual. I was drawn to the architectural qualities of these formations and designed an embroidery piece to capture the feeling of that cold day in the garden.

an ode 2 old irish crochet books and prince (duh!). I was reading about how crochet was nicknamed nuns lace because it was more accessible and therefore less desirable than traditionally made lace!!- and wanted to try making some of my own ✨

trying to make pieces with more purpose, esp as it gets a bit colder. Also good cos it actually fits my massive head/hair better than a beanie. I made up the pattern as I went along, can make a few to sell if anyone’s interested 🐬
