Our next artist in the spotlight is Nick Rendall.
Colour just sings out from these assertively painted abstracts, we can’t wait to see them on the walls!
Nick uses colour, layered gesture and handmade framing to explore memory, movement and the changing landscape of the High Weald.

We have the pleasure once more, of welcoming Scarlett Woodman to our forthcoming exhibition. Always innovative and intriguing, the work she will be showing this year is no exception!

Scarlett uses reclaimed building materials and a variety of processes to explore her surrounding landscape. Her work aims to show the strength beauty and resilience of the natural world, as well as its fragility.

Our next artist in the spotlight is Chris Drage. This will be Chris’ first time exhibiting with Tenterden Artists so we are super-excited to see her work in situ!

Chris is inspired by the emotional impact of landscape, natural and man made. She aims to capture the feeling of being immersed with it.

Chris writes, “Working intuitively, across acrylic, collage and printmaking, each piece evolves through process and response, rather than predetermined outcome. I’m drawn to the tension between control and spontaneity, embracing drips, fragments, blurred boundaries, and accidental gestures - all essential to the work.
Layering functions materially and metaphorically within my practice, reflecting concealed emotions, shifting histories and the accumulation of lived experience. My works aim to evoke an atmosphere rather than depicting a specific location, inviting the viewer into a space that feels simultaneously familiar and unresolved”.

Our 9th guest artist this year, and a popular regular exhibitor here at Tenterden Artists, is Julie Tucker-Williams.

Working predominately in silver Julie has been hand building jewellery for over 35 years.
With an emphasis on uniqueness she loves to experiment with texture and contrast, using hammered, reticulated and fused surfaces with smooth precious coloured gems and fresh water
pearls.
Often referencing her coastal location Julie includes pebbles, fish, fishing boats, anchors and uses texture directly and indirectly from shells, fossils and found beach objects by casting in sand.

A big welcome back to the next featured artist in our exhibition line-up, Jude Askey-Brown!

Jude’s paintings celebrate the beauty in the everyday and her response, through observation and memory, to the passing of time.

Of her work, she writes…

My current collection of work draws on memories of the gardens and windowsills at my grandfather’s house. Crammed full of his overwintered geraniums and cuttings taken in the autumn to plant as soon as the spring warmth appeared. The geraniums and hydrangeas were often a tangled mess of woody stems, dried leaves and flowers with glimmers of bright green new growth. The row of terracotta pots, some chipped and cracked, on every windowsill in his cottage and the earthy smell when he watered them.

Helen Evans joins us for the first time at Tenterden Artists!
Helen is a self-taught artist who enjoys working with acrylics to create her paintings. She takes inspiration from the natural world and includes elements of abstraction to represent landscapes and botanical forms.
We are looking forward to having her show with us!

We are so pleased that Megan Yelets is joining us again this year at our forthcoming exhibition. Megan’s ethereal artwork has an other-worldly quality, she writes of her paintings…

Seasons are important in my work, both visually, felt, and remembered,  while also affecting the process of painting itself via factors outside my control, such as humidity, temperature, and light levels.
