SIGNALS IN THE SILENCE | EVP SERIES

Tomorrow, we begin something completely new.
We’re excited to start our first long-term EVP case file investigation at The Old Post Office, Swadlincote - beginning with our first overnight stay.

But there’s an important difference with this investigation.

We’re going in knowing nothing about the history.

No names. No stories. No reported experiences to influence what we listen for. We want the investigation and the recordings to lead the way before we begin digging into the past.

Over a series of visits, we’ll document the location, record in controlled periods of silence and carefully analyse the audio we capture. Anything potentially significant will be logged into the case file before historical research begins.

Then comes the fascinating part…

Can names, words, phrases or other details captured independently lead us towards real people, events or forgotten pieces of the building’s history?

And just as importantly, what doesn’t fit will be documented too. We won't force connections simply because they sound interesting.
This isn't about proving ghosts.

It's about investigating EVP as a voice phenomenon, following the evidence and seeing where it takes us.

One location. Multiple investigations. A developing case file.
What will we discover when we simply listen?

A fresh, natural look for Residual Presence with Tracey Lindon

This page represents me as I am and the work I genuinely do!

There’s no forcing belief, no overhyping ghosts and no trying to make something fit just because it sounds paranormal. My focus is real investigation, documented research and detailed EVP analysis.

The EVP Experience | Exploring EVP Beyond the Capture is about looking deeper into the listening process. Capturing the audio is only the beginning. It’s about listening carefully, questioning what we hear, recognising contamination, noticing changes within recordings and researching possible historical connections when there is genuine evidence worth following.

And, of course, I’ll continue sharing real stories from my own EVP encounters and investigations - the recordings, the circumstances in which they were captured, what I discovered afterwards and the cases that have stayed with me.

After five years of working with EVP, I’ve learned so much through experience, mistakes, experiments and hundreds of hours of listening. I wish I knew then what I know now.

That’s why I share it - not to tell anyone what they should believe, but to support the paranormal field, bring a fresh perspective and help others better understand the listening process.

EVP isn’t just about capturing a word and calling it paranormal. For me, the real work begins with listening.

With five years of experience investigating and analysing EVP, Residual Presence is focused on exploring what can be discovered when we slow the process down, examine the complete recording and research what we find.

Signals in the Silence takes this further through long-term case file investigations - returning to locations, building evidence over time and looking for patterns, names, phrases and historical connections that can be independently researched.

Alongside my own investigations, my work includes EVP capture and analysis, historical research, case-file building and detailed listening review.

I also offer public speaking through EVP Evolution, exploring how EVP research and our understanding of the phenomenon can develop; work as a Paranormal Events EVP Advisor, supporting investigators with recording, contamination awareness, analysis and listening techniques; and present The EVP Experience, a practical audio-based look at what can actually be hidden within a recording.

No overhyping. No forcing belief. Not every sound is paranormal, and not every possible connection becomes evidence.

Just genuine recordings, careful listening, research and a willingness to question what we find.

EVP CORRELATION BY MEANING — THE PATTERN IS DEVELOPING

As I continue reviewing my EVP case files, one thing I'm becoming increasingly interested in is not simply what a voice appears to say, but what the information within it represents.

I've updated my EVP Correlation by Meaning chart using the evidence gathered across my investigations so far.

And there has been a noticeable development.

Personal names and identity remain the strongest recurring theme, but other categories are beginning to strengthen - particularly location and direction, emotion and distress, occupations and roles, and references that potentially connect with historical events.

The original chart showed the beginnings of the pattern.

The updated version is showing something more interesting: context.
Instead of looking at an EVP as a single interesting word, I'm looking at whether different pieces of information begin connecting:

NAME → LOCATION → ROLE → RELATIONSHIP → EVENT → HISTORY

We've had names.
We've had room and location references.
We've had occupations.
We've had family connections.
We've had emotional statements.

We've had numbers, objects, conflict and references to historical circumstances.

Sometimes these appear independently. In the stronger case files, however, several different elements begin pointing towards the same historical story.

That is where my interest lies.

This chart isn't claiming paranormal proof, and the strength scores aren't scientific correlation coefficients. They're a way of tracking the relative patterns developing within my own EVP evidence as the dataset grows.

For me, the important question is no longer simply:
“Did I capture a voice?”

It's becoming:

“What information does that voice contain — and does anything else independently support it?”

That's the direction I'm continuing to explore with Residual Presence.

🎧 Listen beyond the voice. Look for the pattern. Follow the evidence.
