🩵MEET THE CAST MONDAY🩵
This is the incredible Charlotte who is playing Sven.
Charlotte has been involved behind the scenes at TADLOP since ’Our House’ in 2024 stepping up as lighting operator, prop maker and set dresser! If you watched our most recent show ‘Twisted’ you will have seen their amazing bird and monkey puppets. Charlotte is excited to be taking on their first onstage role as Sven as well as making the puppets and mechanisms to bring Sven and Olaf to life!
Sven is a very physically demanding role so Charlotte’s favourite part of the show is when Sven gets to ‘sleep’ in the song ‘Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People’. They are also thrilled to be sharing the stage with their partner Robyn who is playing Elsa. Although, the audience won’t have much chance to sleep through the show as the beautiful and complex harmonies bring the magic of this powerful Disney musical to life.
⛄🦌Charlotte added that they are very thankful to be trusted with designing and building Sven and Olaf saying “They are two huge projects, each with their own unique problems to solve. Olaf is more of a traditional puppet in that he is operated by a puppeteer standing behind him. Because of the size of Olaf and how the puppeteer uses their hands, Olaf is attached to the puppeteer via a frame and harness. Sven is essentially a costume puppet, where the puppeteer is operating from inside the puppet and uses specially designed shoes and arm stilts to transform the puppeteer's arms and legs into Sven's limbs. It is a long but very fun process that I am already learning a lot from, including designing puppet mechanisms, pattern making, working with new tools and materials, and problem solving.”
