Trying to be useful.
Members from the community have started painting the gallery / temporary workshop space this weekend in the redeveloped ground floor
@ TAAG Arts Centre in Teignmouth.
(More Painting Volunteers wanted tomorrow & next weekend 10am -4pm)

It’s been 3 years since the doors closed & the community bought the building from the council.
A huge thank you to the TAAG committee get the work to this stage.
It is going to be a great space to exhibit & run workshops.
Once the ground floor of the building is open in April we will be working hard to raise the money for the development of the upper floor
(Artist studios & huge classroom space)

New Year tidy up & wondering about …. the next steps.
Quite pleased with January start to fresh project work.
Still a long way to go but feeling positive about the ‘potential’.
Using the screen printing studio @ Double Elephant Print Workshop
has help to create some momentum.

In the flow - 6 hours in the print studio.
An interesting day’s experimenting
(& useful examples for our forthcoming Sketchbook Journey Screen Printing workshops ……. 1 place left for 13th March Introduction Day with 2 day follow-up Print Practice sessions)

I do feel these experiments are heading somewhere.
More work on compositions, layers and colour but I am
………. Enjoying the journey.

An unexpected and enjoyable walk on the moors yesterday prompted a productive 6 hours experimenting at Double Elephant Print Studio today.
Prototype / exemplar for the upcoming 3 day screen printing workshop I will be offering Sketchbook Journey members this spring.

Sketchbook Journey & Beyond - already 54 members signed up for the new programme! Excellent.
Please do share the details with anyone you think might be interested in joining our adventure.
WORKSHOPS
Following on from our mini classes last week I am proposing to run occasional one day workshops (Sketchbook Sundays) possible once a month from September.
The first three will be at TAAG with small groups of six due to accommodation. (Sept., October & November Dates to be confirmed)
* Starting a concertina sketchbook (colour, pattern & texture)
* Developing printed textile grounds for embroidery & embellishment
* Drypoint for paper & fabric - starting mixed media compositions.
After the first three I may develop these into a series of workshops, exploring ideas from ……. Sketchbooks & Beyond
Once we get further into the programme I may be able to offer one / two day workshops (possibly at DEPW) making use of the new screen print facilities.
…..something to ponder.

Sketchbook Journey - on a magical mystery tour.
I have no idea where these sketchbooks are taking my work but it’s exciting to see all these new and unusual marks appearing.
I’m currently following Karen Stamper’s sketchbook and grow course,
Anita Reynolds’s Abstracting the Landscape / Newlyn School of Art
and NicholasWilton’s upcoming Art2Life 5 day programme.
Hopefully these experiments will evolve as I work through the three month
Creative Visionary Programme (CVP) with Nick (March - May).
We will see what happens.
