Tavistock Edge

Tavistock Edge TAVISTOCK EDGE is a vibrant, exciting and fringe look at the Arts, with FREE community-based events, run by volunteers. Nothing is ever wasted!

We have a D-I-Y attitude to all our projects, raising our own funds and 'cutting our cloth' accordingly. TAVISTOCK EDGE is a vibrant, exciting and fringe look at the Arts, with community-based events often taking place in informal settings. The ultimate purpose is to have fun, to bring a smile to people's faces - both performers and audience. To encourage people to join in or learn a new skill - f

or the sheer joy of it! What began as an idea for a few spontaneous events during the course of one day has evolved into a way of life for many of the community throughout the year. We now offer such diverse entertainments as a QUIZ, open to all, currently on alternate Wednesday evenings via Zoom, and a weekly informal SINGALONG SESSION every Thursday evening. The EDGE SINGERS, with their lively repertoire of popular songs, provide regular acoustic performances. These range from providing background music in town, at garden parties and at local watering holes. Forthcoming dramatic events by the EDGE PLAYERS include Ghost Walks, Courtroom Performance at the Guildhall, Medieval Fayre, plus occasional spontaneous appearances. Our FACEBOOK page is updated frequently with news of all our events. Do contact us through that for further details, or if you should wish to volunteer your services – all ideas and suggestions will be welcomed. This area is full of talent and we are keen to help showcase it!

This a production crafted by Tavistock Edge Players from handwritten reports sent by Superintendent William Mitchell to the Chief Constable of Devon during the latter part of the 19th Century.
The contrast between the Superintendent's compassionate nature and the harshness of his duties is evident from statements given by a variety of local characters, from a dastardly sweep to the Reverend Baring-Gould.
