Calendar Girls Continues to Delight Audiences as Final Venue Awaits
The first two nights of our second week of performances of Calendar Girls have been met with laughter, tears, standing ovations, and some truly wonderful audience feedback.
Our performances at Bridgwater Arts Centre have once again demonstrated why this much-loved play continues to touch hearts wherever it goes. From the hilarious antics of the WI ladies to the deeply moving moments at the heart of the story, audiences have been fully immersed in the world of Knapeley WI.
Audience member Candy Adkins summed up the experience perfectly:
“Well done everyone, absolutely brilliant! I loved the calendar photo scene – you all looked wonderful. The laughter at badminton was hilarious, Charlotte and the make-up lady who got a good telling off – brilliant both of you! I cried at the moving parts, so well acted. Vicky, you did Lady Cravenshaw to a T. Great costumes and what an amazing set, with the Queen, the damp above the not-working radiator, the clock, the monthly events board and the going-down balloons! And the brick corridor beyond the doors – which hall did you nick those doors from? Just perfect acting everyone!”
Comments like these reflect the tremendous effort of our cast, crew, production team and director Jane Leakey, who have worked tirelessly to bring this iconic story to life.
The beautifully detailed set, heartfelt performances, comic timing, and emotional depth have all contributed to an unforgettable theatrical experience. Audiences have laughed out loud at the antics of the WI ladies and shed tears during the poignant moments that remind us why Calendar Girls remains one of Britain’s most cherished plays.
As one venue closes, another awaits.
We now move to our final venue, the magnificent Tacchi Morris Arts Centre, for the concluding performances of this wonderful production.
