Azayz Dance

Last night was our final class together 😭😭 But don't worry because these amazing women are going to be continuing to dance under the Azayz umbrella.

We're sorting out the practicalities of forming a community group so that they are all set for the beginning of next term and they will be at the hafla in Chard on May 23rd 🌺 I'll still be involved at a distance for technique advice, choreography guidance and practice session support as needed/ wanted, of course 🥰

When I began classes again I didn't intend to leave the area, but the head injury has changed everything... so a new start awaits 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 And I hope you'll all come to Scotland!

I am very sorry, and very, very, VERY sad to leave everyone, and there were more tears yesterday, but I will be back to visit! I'll time my visits to coincide with haflas so that I can see everyone altogether 🥰🌺

It's been an absolute honour to dance with you all❤️💜🧡

Afternoon everyone! Due to the main road being closed into Wellington for most of January we're having to start classes a bit later than planned!

In January I'm offering 2 Sunday workshops in a beautiful dance studio in Taunton, and then the 8-week term will start on Wellington on Wednesday Feb 4th with a beautiful choreography to Ana Fi Intizarak ❤️

New dancers are welcome to any of the classes/workshops (some Egyptian dance experience necessary).

Hafla poll results!

Thanks to everyone who took a moment to answer the poll about what you would like to see at a hafla!

Here are the most popular responses:

84% want a SHORTER SHOW and lots more time to dance
84% want a COSTUME SWAP/2nd hand costume stall
72% prefer BYO FOOD and drink
72% would like LIVE Arabic music
65% want a SOUQ or some stalls

And finally, but controversially,
50% want an afternoon event...
And 50% want an evening event! 😝 Not sure how to keep everyone happy but I'm working on it🤣

What a surprise! Thank you to lovely Angela for making this stunning dancer cake with our Azayz logo on it, to celebrate the end of term ❤️Apparently it's a Ukrainian good luck tradition and it was really nice to pause from the Arabic Christmas songs for a treat 🤩

Classes start up again in January so if we don't see you at the hafla this weekend then we all wish you a fabulous festive season and we'll see you in 2026! 🥳

The cutest photo 😍 After a week off, I can't wait to dance with this lovely lot tonight -- plus those who were missing from the pic, and our new dancers too!
We're having an extra class tonight to rehearse the choreography for the hafla in Chard (Dec 6th) so I'll see you at 6.15pm for the practice and 7.15pm for the class 🌟🥳😻
