Unfortunately NO DOGS are allowed on Bunbury Jubilee Playing Fields Traditional fair attractions, beer tent and BBQ, commercial stalls, brass band, Morris dancers, puppet show and parade the list goes on!

Bunbury Village Day AGM will take place on - Wednesday 23 September at 7pm in the Nags Head Bunbury.

The meeting is a chance for us to reflect on last year’s event – Wild Bunbury, and to start putting things in place for our 2027 event.

Life is busy, we know that, but if you can spare a few hours once a month in the run up to the big day (in June 2027) and then a few days of admittedly tiring, but fun activities on the big weekend, then joining the BVD team might be for you!

What’s in it for me?

➡️ Community spirit – a chance to give something back to the village and be part of a much-loved local tradition.

➡️ Meeting people – an opportunity to connect with neighbours, make new friends, and feel part of a team.

➡️ Pride in place – helping to showcase Bunbury at its best and support an event that brings visitors into the village.

➡️ Skill sharing and learning – whether it’s stewarding, setting up, organising stalls, or communications, volunteers can bring their skills and also pick up new ones.

➡️ Fun and enjoyment – being behind the scenes often means experiencing the day in a unique and rewarding way.

➡️ Sense of achievement – satisfaction in seeing the event come together and knowing you played a part in its success.

Hello all, we hope you are enjoying the summer, the BVD Team certainly are!

If you came to Wild Bunbury on 13 June and have lost any items, now is your last chance to claim them, before we pass them on to a charity shop.

We still have a few items of clothing including a woman's blue coat plus some other bits and pieces.

One of the real joys of Bunbury Village Day is seeing our whole community get behind the event – and a wonderful example...

One of the real joys of Bunbury Village Day is seeing our whole community get behind the event – and a wonderful example of this is our Scarecrow & Wild Art Festival.

Now in its third year, the competition has become a much-loved part of Village Day, with businesses, community groups and residents creating imaginative displays that bring smiles to faces all around the village in the weeks leading up to the event.

This year's winners were Tilly's Coffee Shop, whose incredible creation, Sid the Snake, proved impossible to miss! Stretching to around 20 feet long and proudly displayed outside the café, Sid became something of a local celebrity, with countless visitors stopping to take selfies.

As well as creating such a fantastic display, Paula and the team at Tilly's embraced the spirit of Bunbury Village Day by helping kick-start the competition weeks before the event and inspiring others to get involved. Their enthusiasm and support for the local community has been greatly appreciated.

Bunbury Village Day Chair, Nicky Durrant, recently presented Paula and the team with a framed certificate and a bottle of fizz to enjoy together in recognition of their winning entry.

We are also delighted to recognise both Girlguiding Bunbury (Rainbows, Brownies Guides and Rangers) and Bunbury Beavers Cubs & Scouts - Cheshire with a Special Award in recognition of the outstanding displays they created.

Girlguiding Bunbury wowed everyone with Ray the Rainbow Spider and more than twenty scarecrow characters and animals displayed around the village, while Bunbury Scouts created an imaginative camping scene featuring different Scout sections, a tent and campfire.

The BVD team are now talking to the leaders of both organisations about how we can make a meaningful contribution that will benefit all of the children.

Finally, thank you to every individual, group and business who took part. Every scarecrow, animal and piece of wild art helped make Bunbury Village Day even more special. The competition has become a wonderful example of what makes our village unique – people of all ages coming together, showing their creativity, supporting one another and helping celebrate everything that makes Bunbury such a special community.
