Syston QT Theatre group was originally formed in 1953 as part of a youth club at Birstall Methodist Church. In those days drama productions were not recognised as part of the church, so the group was formed on the QT, hence the name. It was agreed that, if any profit was made from the productions, it would always be given to charity and over the years many thousands of pounds have been donated to

various charities, mostly these days to SARIC (Syston Arts and Recreation in the Community). In 1990, in conjunction with Syston and District Operatic Society, the group took over the lease of the Old Methodist Chapel in Chapel Street, Syston, firstly using it for rehearsals and occasional social evenings, but now using it as the permanent venue for all our plays.

Lesley was all smiles for the QT birthday conga that had been arranged in her honour but deep-down she felt she’d rather be sat down with a nice bit of fizz and cake.

Happy birthday to our very own HRH Treasurer, Queen of front-of-house, and dear friend Lesley Smith!

Love from all of us at QTs 🎂🎁🎈🎉🥳🥂🎭

🎭 The curtain has fallen on Curtain Up! 🎉

What a week.
What a cast.
What an audience.
What a giant teddy bear. And yes…even a visit from Miza Linnelli. ✨

👏 Huge congratulations to the whole Curtain Up! company - our brilliant cast, our tireless backstage and tech teams, and our wonderful front‑of‑house crew. And an extra‑special shoutout to Jo Gallagher, who made her directing debut and delivered a show full of heart, chaos, sparkle and belly laughs.

To everyone who bought a ticket, cheered us on, and filled The Old Chapel with warmth, laughter and love - thank you. You raised the curtain (and the roof) with us every single night, and your support means the world to a little local theatre group like ours. 🙏🏻

We’re now off to celebrate with a well‑earned cuppa‑super‑soup and maybe a lie‑down in a dark room after all that glitter and Lycra.

👀 And before we go…a tease:
Our next production will be announced tomorrow - and trust us, it’s one to watch this November.
