TONIGHT! IT'S GOING TO BE A BELTER!

We are excited to be able to bring back to The Thursday Night Music Club at The Castle Old Town Swindon a full band show from the brilliant Joe Kelly & The Royal Pharmacy!

Joe Kelly is a chameleonic presence, sometimes showing up to solo sets with just a broken-necked guitar and a battered case full of harmonicas to accompany him. On other occasions, the dustbowl-dry skeletons of Joe Kelly's haunted blues and country songs are fleshed out with three-part vocal harmonies and atmospheric guitar and keyboard textures by members of The Royal Pharmacy, his backing band. Mercurial and spellbinding in equal measure, no version of the Joe Kelly live experience should be missed.

Now with two albums-worth of material under their belts, Joe and the band take the experimental instincts hinted at on album one and don't so much as throw everything but the kitchen sink at the songs as rip the kitchen sink off the wall, jump inside it and take flight.

It's a heady ride and although they are still formed around the sound of indie Americana there is now so much more to the sound - songs that channel sixties psych-pop, Arctic Monkeys at Rancho De La Luna, late-night West Coast soul, Unkle, The Raconteurs, Father John Misty, and side two of Abbey Road are all part of the repertoire.

Live music from 8.30pm. Pay-what-you-want - so free entry but the tip jar (cash) will be passed round so you can show your appreciation and support live music.

LIVE MUSIC AT THE PULPIT THIS WEDNESDAY!

We are pleased to be able to welcome the most excellent Harrison Rimmer back to Swindon, this time for his Pulpit debut.

Harrison is a singer songwriter hailing from Fleetwood & grown in York with a sound that is a blend of Bruce Springsteen with a flavouring of Nirvana.

He has toured around the UK, Australia, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, France & parts of Asia playing to anyone, anywhere at anytime. In the course of his travels he has played with the likes of Frank Turner, Mark Chadwick (The Levellers), Boston, Manor, Martin Simpson, PET NEEDS, John Power (The LA’s/CAST), Ryan McCombs (Drowning Pool/SOiL) , Rick Witter (from Shed Seven), Tom Hingley (from Inspiral Carpets), Tony Wright (from TerrorVision), Ben Ottewell (from Gomez), Gaz Brookfield, and many more.

Support from Bath based Indie/soft rock/Alt/Rock and Roll/Whatever artist Jess Chivers who impress us so much at 7Hills Spring Festival earlier in the year.

Music from 8.00pm. Entry is free but please do bring cash for the artists hat to show your appreciation and help keep music live.

This week at The Thursday Night Music Club at The Castle Old Town Swindon we are pleased to welcome the incredible South West based folk duo St Fian to Swindon following their amazing show at The Pulpit earlier in the year.

The pair play a raw, resonant brand of original folk music with a gritty, traditional edge. Exquisitely crafted and hauntingly beautiful songs that weave folklore, history, and the deepest corners of the human experience into a powerful tapestry of sound.

Their music doesn’t just entertain, it stirs the soul. With tales that unearth forgotten truths, explore shadowy pasts, and celebrate life’s stark realities, St. Fian invites you on a journey through laughter, reflection, rhythm, and tears.

Music from 8.30pm. Entry free but do bring a little cash for the hat to show your appreciation and support live music.

LIVE MUSIC AT THE PULPIT TONIGHT!

We are excited to be able to again bring the uber-talented frontman of British Blues legends The Achievers , SteveFerbrache, back to Swindon once again with his pals (and as it is at The Pulpit this time it could prove to be a bit of a squeeze!)

Steve Ferbrache (guitar & vocals) and Rufus Fry (Harmonica) are founding members of the award winning Blues/Roots band The Achievers, and are basically doing a 'bit on the side'. This bit comprises gritty blues, swinging roots, country, gospel. americana, bluegrass and plenty more folksy gubbins. They'll be joined on double bass by Jack Thomas.

Saved from a route to ruin in his teens by the folk clubs of North Wales and later taken around the world by his award winning Americana/Roots band The Achievers, Steve Ferbrache has some stories to tell. Poetically articulate songwriting and highly-accomplished, unobtrusive finger-style guitar Seve draws influences from both traditional British folk music and American roots & old-time styles. His songs are driven by message and melody and are often disarmingly open. Steve Ferbrache is committed to leaving audiences better than he found them - even after they’ve explored some of the toughest aspects of life together.

"An incredible songwriter, and one hell of a voice!" - Seasick Steve

"Definitely a class above - his easy charm and twinkling humour would win over the most battle weary" - Music Riot

"A very fine guitar picker, reminds me of early Paul Simon" - Wizz Jones

Live music from 8.00pm. Entry free but do bring some cash for the artists tip-jar.
