Eight artists - one venue! This is a chance to find out how different media are used to create unique and desirable pieces of art. We open at 9.30 and it is free to drop in! Come and ask any question and we'll do our best to answer - or just watch and enjoy. Bonus - there will be refreshments available, with donations to Prospect Hospice, our charity of the year. For details of when and where, see the attached poster.

We look forward to seeing you!

Lucille Lonsdale will be joining seven other HAS members on July 18th at the Open Studio event in Highworth Community Room, to paint, share, and show their work to all visitors. Lucille says: I am a later starter as a watercolourist. I did O level Art at G.C.E. but never continued as my vision was not the best. I had a very weak and sliding left eye. By the time I reached 60 years glasses were becoming extremely expensive as I had 4 differing prescriptions - 6 if I include glasses for computer work. And then.... I made the decision the have interocular lenses put into my eyes. 3 procedures later + plus 2 laser corrections and I had 20/20 vision. A Miracle.

In short I decided to have a go at painting and have not looked back. I seem to have an affinity with animals, particularly dogs and horses. Not cats (although I love them dearly) they are just a ball of fur!
I will paint anything that takes my fancy. Rarely does anything go in the bin.
Come along on Saturday to meet Lucille and other artists to see our work - we'd love to meet you!

The Open Studio event this Saturday, July 18th, is definitely happening! Some posts published have had 'event ended' added to them - not sure why, but here we are! Still on, still painting, still looking forward to meeting our visitors!

Roses are the epitome of summer and a source of inspiration to many artists. Hilary Sinclair will be painting and showcasing her process for painting these beautiful flowers using oil paints at the HAS Open Studio event on Saturday July 18th.

Hilary says ‘I love painting roses, they have to be my favourite flower and when summer arrives it is uplifting to see them unfurl and reveal their character and beauty’

Hilary will have examples of her rose paintings available at the event and will have a painting in progress during the morning for you to see the developing process.

Come along and meet Hilary and the other participating artists on July 18th- all welcome!

Our next artist to showcase for the July 18th Open Studio event is Anthea Hilson.

Anthea will be painting with watercolour during the morning of July 18th, although she describes herself as an 'explorer', enjoying a variety of media and frequently taking online courses for the stimulation of new ideas and sharing work with other participants.

I particularly enjoy playing with different materials and abstract painting. I love acrylic inks although I rarely paint with just acrylics. I like printing and drawing and particularly drawing into a base of acrylic inks.

Anthea loves meeting people and selling her art and cards - come along and meet her in person!
