A wonderful book launched on Saturday - “Dylan’s Park” by Helen & Tom Docherty. Beautiful illustrations and a beautifully put together look back at Dylan’s childhood and Cwmdonkin park.

“Dylan Thomas. He was a poet. He had his poetry. You will have heard of him. And Caitlin Macnamara? Chances are if youʼve heard of me, itʼs because I married him.ˮ

Dylan Thomas and Caitlin Macnamara were great lovers, artists and bohemians. Before Dylan died at the tender age of 39, he and his wild wife Caitlin boozed, binged and brawled their way through the bars of Britain in the 1930's and 40's. Mixing with other writers, artists and musicians, spending all their time in pubs, living on tick and behaving scandalously. Although Dylan had his tragic genius as an excuse for his behaviour, Caitlin feels that history judges her more harshly as a
mother, married to the ‘Voice of Godʼ. She puts her own ambitions on hold to support Dylan. This is her story. The forgotten woman. The woman behind the man who should never have been in the shadows. She refuses to apologise for the choices she made.
Their marriage was stormy, passionate, explosive, riddled with booze, infidelities and poverty. In this one woman play Caitlin tells her story, in her own brutally honest words, revealing some shocking insights into their mutually destructive relationship.

He was a poet, she was a dancer. Together they were explosive.
