Join poet Alyson Hallett on 4th June at 14:00 at Burngate and explore what it means to listen to stones as part of Purbeck Art Weeks - what it means to have geopoetic roots -what it means to weave different perceptions and ways of being into a shimmering composite of being. Tickets available on the Burngate website for £20.

In conversation with Patrick Corbett, she will talk about her life-time’s work with migrating stones and all things geopoetic.
This event will be an immersive experience.

Alyson will share poems and stories from her life spent working with rocks and stones. This includes her international poetry and public art project, The Migration Habits of Stones, and more recent work that includes listening to the stones of Stanton Drew Stone Circles.

Tomorrow, come and spend a creative two-hour evening visit to a nearby quarry for a session with poet Sarah Acton Blackk Venn and geologist Patrick Corbett writing poetry in response to this special place with prompts and guided exercises. Quarry Quatrains - 30th May 17:00 - 19:00. Walk and guided poetry session starts at Burngate. Costs £15, book through the Burngate website in the bio.

Participants will get to experience dinosaurs walking in the landscape of the Purbeck Limestone plateau. Where the dinosaurs once left their prints, you can record your words. Quarry Quatrains will thus become a living collective testament to their former presence.

Purbeck landscape has inspired many writers and artists over the years – Kingsley, Hardy, Betjeman have captured Purbeck in prose and verse. Now it’s your turn!
