Road Closure at The Street , Swafield Bridge

Swafield Bridge on The Street will be closed for repairs from Monday 31 of July 2023 for 12 days weather permitting.

Work will involve taking down damaged sections and rebuilding the brickwork to the Southwest parapet after it was damaged in a road traffic collision.

We will also re-bed the existing coping stones, re-point localised areas of damage throughout the bridge and repair the damaged approach fence.

For this work a full road closure is required to maintain a safe working area for our subcontractors.

A signed diversion route will be in place for the duration of the closure with pedestrian access across the bridge being maintained at all times.

The County Council thanks people for their patience while this essential bridge maintenance work is carried out.
