🌿 Week 6: Our First Watercolour Week Update ✨

Our wonderful returners dove straight into Tuscan vineyard landscapes and joyful poppy fields bursting into bloom. 🍇🌺 Their confidence and creativity set such a warm tone for our watercolour module.

Meanwhile, our brilliant beginners embraced the foundations of watercolour with curiosity and courage—experimenting with expressive brush strokes, soft gradients and gentle washes. From bright, zesty lemons 🍋 to atmospheric misty mountains ⛰️, they brought freshness and energy to every piece.

It’s been a beautiful beginning: full of colour, calm, courage and community. We’re so proud of everyone at The Seasons Art Class Sutton Coldfield. 💛🎨

🌞 WEEK 5 ART UPDATE – CAMELS IN CAIRO! 🐪✨

In our second week of oil pastels, our brilliant students at The Seasons Art Class Sutton Coldfield created a beautiful range of camel desert scenes. In our mixed media project, students used oil pastels and coloured pencil to blend warm sunlight tones, soft sandy hues, and peaceful sunset skies 🌅✨.

The camels all look amazing — from bold silhouettes and long shadows across rippled dunes 🏜️ to expressive head profiles and those wonderfully long necks 🐪💛.

As part of our wider tropics theme, we also enjoyed vibrant pieces featuring a majestic lion 🦁 and a striking peacock too 🦚 — full of colour, texture, and personality.

A wonderful week of creativity, confidence, and colour 🎨💫
So proud of everyone’s progress and looking forward to sharing our first week of watercolours next week. 💧🖌️💙

Week 4 Update: Outstanding First Week with Oil Pastels🎨

There’s been so much happening at The Seasons Art Class Sutton Coldfield, and Week 4 was a standout!

Week 4 marked our students’ first exploration of oil pastels for the Summer 2026 Term. With enthusiasm and focus, they embraced blending and layering techniques to bring coastal sand dune seascapes to life 🌊🏖️. The results are exceptional:

✨ A rich array of blues and turquoises carefully blended to capture the light and movement of the sea
✨ Warm ochres and soft neutrals building texture and depth in the sand dunes
✨ Dune grasses rendered with beautiful movement, conveying the flow of coastal wind 🌾
✨ Delicate purple shimmers in the sky, adding atmosphere as the light changes 💜

We are proud of everyone for diving into our sand dune project with such enthusiasm whilst showing skill, creativity, and artistic growth.💪

Student Creativity Unlocked! ✨🎨

Welcome to another update from us as we showcase our Final Drawing Week projects at The Seasons Art Class Sutton Coldfield.

This week in class we’re sharing some of our student artwork from two incredible projects:

Beginner Portraits 👩‍🎨
Many of our students picked up a pencil for the first time with us. They’ve taken on portraiture with confidence, using shading and mark-making to bring real expression and depth to their work.

Synchronised Swimmers 🏊‍♀️
Our returning students challenged themselves with the human form in motion. They’ve skilfully applied their knowledge of anatomy and used watercolour pencils to blend subtle colours and capture movement in the water.

We’re so proud that most of our students start with no or little art experience 💪. The creativity, focus, and progress on display is proof of what you can achieve when you just give it a go.

🌟 Student Spotlight: Drawing Skills in Action! 🌟

🚌 Our returning students have completed their “Old London Bus” water coloured pencil project, focusing on detail, depth and those iconic London lines.

🐎 Meanwhile, our beginners explored Perspective and Scale, learning how to use vanishing points to construct a living room and also the grid method to enlarge a Renaissance horse with accuracy and growing confidence.

🌊☕ Creativity in Full Flow at The Seasons Art Class Sutton Coldfield! 🎨👏

Time to celebrate the stunning work by our amazing students!

Our returners have blown us away with a range of water studies using watercolour pencils 💙. Each piece is unique, detailed, yet wonderfully free-flowing — capturing the true beauty and versatility of water. From delicate droplets and gentle ripples to dramatic swells, you can almost hear the sea! 🖌️🌊

And let’s hear it for our beginner students 👏✨ They committed to their very first artwork with us and the results are amazing — completed tea cups and saucers with confident ellipses, shading, and charm ☕

🎨✨ New Term Highlights – The Seasons Art Class Sutton Coldfield

We kicked off our new term with a busy, creative first session! 🙌

✏️ Beginners focused on core drawing & sketching skills, working through our Drawing Sampler and tackling tricky ellipses as part of a charming still life tea cups project ☕

🌊 Returners dove into water studies using watercolour pencils, exploring beautiful sea-toned colours to capture ripples, ebbs, and flow 🖌️

👏 We also showcased impressive independent artwork completed by students during the break — so much talent!

🎨 Our Summer Course Starts THIS WEEK! 🌞

🌟 End of Spring Term Art Exhibition – What an Evening! 🌟

Our venue was absolutely jam‑packed with students, families, friends, new and prospective learners, and members of the public — all gathered to celebrate the incredible creativity of our art community. From classroom project work to individually inspired creations, there was so much to admire, enjoy and be wowed by.

✨ A huge congratulations to all our Spring '26 Art Students who received their Certificates of Achievement! — a wonderful celebration of progress, confidence and artistic growth.

💛 And a big heartfelt thank you to all students for everything you’ve contributed to make this term such a success. Your enthusiasm, kindness, creativity and community spirit are what make our classes so special.

Alongside the exhibition, we held a fundraising raffle in support of St Giles Hospice Bookshop. With an amazing range of gifts — from art materials donated by The Seasons Art Class Sutton Coldfield to bottles of wine, chocolates, toiletries and puzzles kindly donated by our wonderful art students — we collectively raised an incredible £360.

🎉 A special shout‑out to Pat, who won the grand prize — a fabulous hamper full of art materials generously donated by The Seasons Art Class Sutton Coldfield... a lovely moment of excitement on the night.

This humble amount will make a meaningful difference for the Hospice, and we are so grateful for everyone’s generosity and participation.

🎨 Creative highlights
Our art tutor Mark wowed the crowd with a live watercolour demonstration, offering a glimpse into his process and techniques. He also showcased a beautiful display of his own portrait work, giving everyone the chance to see the artistry and skill behind his teaching.
