———————————————————Before you think I’m slating exams or competitions, I’m not. They can be good for some kids, teaching resilience and driving them to be better. However, what about those others who just want to dance and learn?-They can also be rushed into learning movement without being taught the correct technique, particularly the main one I’ve come across: second position. This is done to get their exam practice. When I went into LIPA, I was the least experienced in ballet and ended up in the top ballet class because I had amazing training and an understanding of correct technique.-No one in the professional industry looks at your CV and gives you the job because you won a competition at 14. Sorry, but that’s the truth.-SHIFT ACADEMY is about giving younger dancers the opportunity to learn how to take themselves to the next level and prepare them for the next step in their dance life. -Shift is every Saturday.Ages 11-13, 10:15-12:15Ages 14-16, 12:30-2:30———————————————————Adult Dance Classes for All Abilities.
