The Fire Station is a vibrant, mid-scale performance venue in the heart of Sunderland – housing a brand new the state-of-the-art Auditorium and The Engine Room bar & bistro. Whether you’re an indie rock champion, adventurous jazzer, theatre devotee, comedy enthusiast or just after a great night out, our programme is packed with entertainment from music and comedy to dance and theatre.

2022 will

also see the opening of the Parade Ground, bringing live music and performance to the glorious outdoors with an external stage, bar and festival atmosphere. The Fire Station is a hub for performance in the centre of the city. With studios, rehearsal spaces and teaching rooms upstairs, we’re inviting you to give it a go for yourself as well as nurturing the next generation of performers.

Four sensational stars of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat take to the stage at The Fire Station on Wednesday 16 September for Dreamcoat Stars.

From Les Misérables and The Greatest Showman to Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You and Jersey Boys, the show brings together some of musical theatre’s biggest hits with powerful vocals, four-part harmonies and brand-new arrangements.

If you joined us yesterday and throughout August: thank you for supporting your local music venue.

When you visit The Fire Station and choose to spend your hard-earned money with us, it stays here in Sunderland - employing over 100 local people, keeping over venue running, and allowing us to continue putting on live music and events 365 days a year.

As an entirely self-funded venue, we never take your support for granted - and days like yesterday make it all worthwhile.

When we started The Fire Doors, our wild-eyed dream was to eventually play at Sunderland's prestige venue, The Fire Station. We even took our band photographs on the stage there in the run up to our debut gig. Well, Christmas comes early for us this year because we are indeed playing at The Fire Station on 9th December. Tickets are on sale now.

Our schedule for the rest of the year and for the first half of 2027 is starting to fill up. This weekend we're at Sea Power's brilliant (and sold out) Krankenhaus Festival, then next month we're in London with The InCureables, followed by trips to The Crescent Community Venue in York and The Trades Club in Hebden Bridge.
