The Keel Line Singers were recently invited to entertain at a special celebratory supper to mark the end of the eight week long Voices of the Bells project at Holy Trinity Church, Sunderland. The evening also marked the commencement of the £2.8 million restoration of the iconic building which is to become an arts and music venue. Keel Line's new MD George Porter could not have chosen a more prestigious gathering to make his debut with the baton. Among those attending were Matt Stokes, Director of The Bells project, Rebecca Ball, Creative Director of Sunderland Culture and Rebecca Pedlow, Manager of Sunderland Music Education Hub. As well as being a serving member of the Sunderland Empire Theatre Trust M/S Pedlow is an experienced choir leader and a former D'Oyle Carte Opera singer so her compliments to our recently formed chorus were greatly appreciated.

"In My Room" is a song written by Brian Wilson and Gary Usher for the American rock band The Beach Boys. It was released on their 1963 album Surfer Girl. It was also released as the B-side of the "Be True to Your School" single. The single peaked at number 23 in the U.S. and was eventually inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. "In My Room" was ranked number 212 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

KEEL LINE SINGERS GUEST MUSICAL DIRECTOR
We have had the pleasure of a guest Musical Director over the last two weeks. George has been a breath of fresh air and brought along lots of expertise in the four part harmony as well as the barbershop field. We will know within the next few weeks whether he will be joining us on a permanent basis bringing along the energy and drive that he has. In the meantime we will push on learning our new songs which are coming along well.

The “Keel Line Singers” Send a big thank you to Timothy Cranfield

Tim has been our Musical Director from late 2017 through to July 2018, unfortunately for the Keel Line Singers Tim’s time with us has come to an end as he has moved on to continue his music studies at the University of Calgary in Canada. The Keel Line Singers would like to put on record a great big thank you for all the help, guidance and coaching that Tim brought to one and all and wish him every success for the future.
PS. Don’t forget to come and visit when you are in the area.
Our search for a new Musical Director is ongoing and hopefully we will have someone in place within the next two weeks, he will have some act to follow !

We will keep you all posted on our MD search in the meantime keep listening to your teach tracks and get those new songs learnt.
